The thing I'm not understanding about the captaincy loophole is that you put a non playing rookie on the field. Who has non-playing rookies in round one? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Screw all this pussy footing around. I'm making Goodes captain and backing him. No vc loophole crap in round one. No way will my Rnd1 team have any non-starters.

This.:thumbsu: Except I'm going with Mumford.

Good luck all.

If Tarrant doesn't play I'd be backing Buddy to score 130 plus, and even though Ablett could get more, I am a bit wary of him first up againts Adelaide. He smashed them last year and the new coach is Abletts old coach, think he might get a bit of attention. No doubt he is the safest pick though.

Had Mummy VC but GAJ perma captain all the way! You just can't beat his consistency and he has a pretty frightening record against Adelaide in the last few games.

Of the 17 players listed I only have 5 of them.
And my captain isn't even listed !!

VC'd Goodes to try and exploit the loophole, his 90 is nowhere near good enough though so will probably hand the captaincy to either Ablett or Pendlebury.

I tried the same with Mumford.

Oh well.

i might be going with marc murphy. and yes, i have both pendlebury and ablett, the reason is with the opposition. adelaide, new coach in sanderson with a greater emphasis on pressure might make it more difficult for ablett to post a huge score, and marc murphy i think will be the number one midfielder at carlton, not just in supercoach, but in general. anyone else thinking along this path?

Probably shouldnt be that much of a suprise. He scored about the same against the Suns last year iirc. Usually only produces his best when he has too.

Glad i wasn't in the minority who took the gamble on a sydney premium as captain. thinking back to last year i think its not a good move to expect a teams best player to dominate GWS or the suns, it tended to be the mid-range players such as higgins, dangerfield, yarran and riemers who pumped out above-average scores against those teams (obviously with enough exceptions to shoot holes in my theory :P ) i guess what i'm saying is yes the teams that play these weak teams get a bigger slice of the 3300 points than usual, but its usually the mid-range players getting those extra points.

here are some numbers against GCS last year

rd 2 vs Carlton
murphy 133, Walker 131, Gibbs 127, Thornton 127

rd 3 vs Bulldogs
Boyd 131, Cross 130, Higgins 122

rd 4 vs Melbourne
Moloney 152, Jamar 121, Trengove 120, Sylvia 117, Bail 114

rd 6 VS Essendon
Riemers 147, Howlett 140, Stanton 141, Watson 122, Hooker 118

rd 8 vs Adelaide
Dangerfield 138, Thompson 136, Van Berlo 129, Reilly 121, Wright 116

rd 10 vs Geelong
Johnson 162, Selwood 136, Stokes 131, Pods 119, Kelly 117

rd 12 vs North
Wells 180, Boomer 155, Edwards 139, Thompson 132

rd 13 vs Hawthorn
Savage 165, Mitchel 144

rd 14 vs Dogs
Griffen 145, Gian 128, Cooney 124, Barlow 122

rd 15 vs Freo
Griffin 166, Broughton 122

rd 16 vs Sydney
Reid 122, O'keefe 121, Goodes 107, Mumford 93

rd 17 vs Richmond (this is the only game i included that wasn't a blowout, in fact gold coast won)
Newman 154, Houli 131, Rance 130

rd 18 vs Collingwood
Davis 137, Ball 135, Pendles 123, Swan & Cloke 115

rd 20 vs Geel
Stevie J 155, Selwood 145, Chappy 142, Pods 128, Mooney 124, Christensen 117

rd 21 vs Brisbane
Berger 172, REDDEN 127, BLACK 125, Rockliff 124, Staker 122

rd 22 vs Adel
Thompson 162, Jacobs 149, Tippett 122, Mckay 115

rd 23 vs Melb
Garland 149, Blease 121, Frawley & Moloney 117

i'm not saying premiums don't do well against crap teams, just that for a number of reasons, (such as less contested ball and stars being looked after in easy games) just because one of your premiums is playing GWS (and will therefore probably win in a blowout) doesn't mean they are your best candidate for captain.

and after having looked at gabletts score in every one of the fanfooty score sheets i used for these numbers, i think the only week he won't be my captain is rd 13 :D

I've gone with the overwhelming favorite, but so tempted to the risk and go for Pendles with the chance to get a 10-20+ point head start...
