Opinion Round 1 Changes vs. Geelong

Suban is a long kick, like Danyle. Not a good kick. I think people confuse the two a little too often.

It's to do with reputation. Someone in the media says they're a good kick and the rank and file swallow it up. Danyle came to our club with a reputation of being a good kick and for 3 years 95% of posters on here abused the shit out of anyone that disputed that. They're now on board.

Has kicked 56.58 (49.1%) during his career.

56 players have kicked 30+ career goals for Freo. Suban's conversion rate is good for 54th place. Only Troy Cook and Danyle Pearce are below him.

Don't suppose those stats include degree of difficulty (ie shots on goal under pressure, on a tight angle, outside 50 running full pelt etc)? Can't believe he's that bad in comparison to others.

I think we have picked a side to win and to physically challenge Geelong with pace and strength in the contest, especially forward of centre. As much as we would like a sexier team with someone like Crozier, Suban can do some of the grunt work and shepparding etc for Fyfe Mundy Neale etc.

It looks like we are reverting back to 2015 Freo with a bit more on the outside with B Hill/ Langdon/ Weller/ Tucker.

Sorry Suban is a ****ing spud and selecting him over Crozier is terrible end of.

Was thinking the same thing. It is the only valid reason I can see for picking Suban. Can we put up with playing him most of the year if he gets us a 2nd round compensation pick? But surely it's smarter to wait until closer to the end of season? Put him on the LTI up until then - is ball aversion technically an injury?

There is nothing to gain from selecting Suban. It teaches the youngsters nothing. Schloithe would still be in contact with plenty of players from our list. That's the most annoying part, there seems no reward for good form. Must be disheartening for the others not picked.

Hard to argue with a 100% failure rate.not to mention a mind blowing ability NOT to find the ball!
Crozier should be in Pearce's spot ( D Pearce - Out ) and Tucker taking over Suban's spot on the bench.

I do not like this team line up at all. I think it is the difference between winning and losing.

Danny, you see a lot of the training ( thanks for the reports ). Do you think that Balic will be the additional midfield quality that we need in the early part of the season? It certainly looks as if his quality and ball finding ability has developed well after recovering from his injury.

Tucker is already playing. Having said that playing Suban is basically playing one short anyway

I like balic to play instead of suban . But I think balic don't know how to get into crumbing position cost him the spot. The coach said that in his peel report regarding suban.

suban trained the house down in the pre season according to training watchers. some of the others didn't Ross lyon has always picked the round 1 team on pre season effort in training etc You get your spot due to your effort on the track then its up to Suban to lose or keep his spot.

Balic Crozier grey Sheridan seemed to have issues during the pre season... They will now have to wait and work hardto demand a spot.

I am confident Suban will play a good game this week
