You joke yeah. Elliott is a match winner , Josh Daicos made the extended AA squad last season. Quaynor will be putting his hand up for AA honours this year McStay plays in a position that is not relevant to the role that Sidey plays. Come mid season , Sidebum will be under the pump to hold his place in the side. All of Carmichael , Draper , Harrison ( if he can stay healthy ) will be on his hammer .
Daicos' AA squad appearance was quite generous. Sidebottom finished above everyone I listed in the B&F including Josh. Quaynor is a good player, but his position in the team is not near as important nor irreplaceable as Sidebottom's footy brain, leadership and two-way running. You might have a case with Elliott - he's a great player, but it's lineball. Both are very important players to us.

You named McStay as better, so don't claim he's not comparable later on. I think he's a good player, but he does not have the runs on the board.

Show some respect to a club champion who is still one of our best players.

FB: Maynard. Frampton. Noble
HB: Howe. Moore. IQ
C: J.Daicos. Crisp. Sidebottom
HF: De Goey. McStay. Lipinski
FF: Elliott. Mihocek. Ginnivan
FOLL: Cameron. Mitchell. N.Daicos
INT: Adams. Pendlebury. McCreery. Cox
Sub: Hill

A lot of this depends on how we structure up. 1 or 2 rucks. I almost went with Johnson for that extra tall.

I was doing this until I missed IQ lol So Murphy misses out, given have to put Pendles in there off that HB line. I was gonna put Johnson as the tall on the bench, but if we go with 2 rucks then Cox plays. I also forgot crisp so mixed it up and so changed it so hill as the sub

We will see in the practice matches if it's a 2 ruck structure or not

Yeah the ruck structure is where the line up will change, it all depends on it lol

B : Quaynor, Moore, Maynard

HB: Pendlebury, Howe, N. Daicos

HF: McCreery, McStay, Elliott

F: Hill, Mihocek, Ginnivan

I/C: T. Adams, P. Lipinksi, Murphy, Cox

Sub: Noble

If Hawkins plays l would bring in Frampton, but it looks highly doubtful that the Hawk will play round 1.....

If Hawkins doesn't play then I'd suggest the Cats will play Ceglar/Ratu as a forward-ruck - the Stanley/Blicavs combination is too important to the backline structure to meddle with. So there'll be a tall matchup for Frampton even if Hawkins doesn't play.

Structure wise, you prefer to go in with a FB and CHB.

John Noble is again going to make a few people look pretty silly. He's a clear Best 23, and even more critical if N Daicos moves up the ground.

Yeah people still sleeping on him 3 years later.

Maynard Frampton Quaynor
Murphy Moore Howe
J. Daicos Crisp Sidebottom
Elliott McStay DeGoey
Johnson Mihocek Ginnivan
Cameron Adams Mitchell

N. Daicos Pendlebury Lipinski Noble
Sub: Hill

Looks good on paper. Few upgrades to prelim final. Like to see Jordy at the centre bounce then head forward. Prefer Krueger to Johnson (still thinking about his putrid prelim final) but unsure of injury status.

From the Herald-Sun:

COLLINGWOOD

B:
I. Quaynor, D. Moore, N. Murphy

HB: S. Pendlebury, J. Howe, B. Maynard

C: J. Daicos, T. Adams, N. Daicos

HF: S. Sidebottom, B. Mihocek, J. De Goey

F: J. Elliott, D. McStay, J. Ginnivan

Foll: D. Cameron, J. Crisp, T. Mitchell

I/C: P. Lipinski, J. Noble, M. Cox, B. Hill

Sub: W. Hoskin-Elliott

Notable absentees: A. Johnson, B. McCreery, T. Bianco, N. Kreuger, B. Frampton

There’s a serious squeeze for spots – particularly through the midfield – with the Magpies enjoying almost a clean bill of health as things stand. McCreery is stiff to miss, after playing 22 games last season. Ash Johnson played the final nine games last season but the arrival of recruit Dan McStay leaves Collingwood with another target in attack to help Mihocek.

Don't think we'll have 4 new recruits in the R1 side - McStay and Titch are lock - anticipate that Geelong will play two talls in the forward line, so Frampton comes in for Murphy and Hill drops out - can't see the benefit of WHE as the Sub, his strength is that he can run all day, so he'll come in or maybe McCreery. I'd give the sub role to the best performed pre-season player, say an Arlo or JC

The tricky ones are Frampton or Murphy:
Two rucks or not. I have Cox in front of Cameron but I’m a minority there. 2 rucks for me.

AJ or a resting ruck, I have checkers and McStay in both full time forwards.

Bobby in but who misses out, is WHE and sidey in the best 22.

What about up and comers: Reef, Carmichael, McRae, Allen, Krueger, Draper etc.

Won’t play unless no one else is available: Kelly, Wilson, Oscar (still developing) first two to be delisted.

Agree with what you say mate.
Players are going to have to perform once they get their chance. Follow the game plan and keep the Fly happy.

We are in a good place right now. Much better than last year.

I think you have to play Cox and Cameron in this sub world. One of them can go if we need to quicken up, but structure wise it makes sense as allows us to play at different paces.

Maynard, Moore, Howe
Quaynor, Frampton, N Daicos
Sidebottom, Mitchell, J Daicos
Elliott, McStay, McReery
Ginnivan, Mihocek, Lipinski
Cameron, Crisp, DeGoey

Pendles, Adams, Noble, Cox
Sub: Hill

Murphy, WHE, Johnson, McRae, Carmichael.

Really want Murphy in but can't find a spot. There is a heap of flexibility in that team.

Adams needs to play as a high half forward swapping with Lipinski and DeGoey. Would love his forward pressure and hopefully keep him on the park a bit longer.
Agree on Murphy - he's got a great tank and courage, but lacks height, speed, and agility to be used in other positions.
