Bullies are favourites @ tab

Not many have picked us. Lots of love for the Bulldogs that they are going to go great guns this year, me included. Still reckon we will get this one though.

It has been a strange start to the year for Freo, they haven't really figured greatly in any of the discussions about the year to come. Either good or bad. It's all about WC, Hawks, Bulldogs and Geelong. And on the other end of the scale, Carlton, Essendon and Brisbane.

for the peeps who enjoy stats: RTB has only ever lost 1 first round game which was Saint's v Geelong (eventual premiers) by 1 point. Seems to do his prep well for this round, and usually plays lots of drucks'n'drakes re who's playing.

not really. they are seen as exciting on the rise while we are widely predicted to slide.
Sandi & Bennell are huge outs for us.
Yep, we didn't win a game without Sandi last year (ie that game we rested him against Port).

Although we won 17 and lost 5 without Bennell last season ;)

As much as it is ridiculous that Sandi is suspended, it'll be good for Clarke to get a shot at being #1 again. Predicting he'll make an impact, especially without Minson in. We did ok without Sandi for the first half of 2013 (with Griff and Kepler rucking), and Clarke is a big upgrade on Kepler in the ruck.

G'day all. Footy's back and so is big Freddie. Expect Pav & Johno not to play. Danger game this and Doggies will probably go in as favourites.

Fred,we'll basically roll out the same side as last year. The dogs will probably field a side similar to last year's clash too.IMO the dogs side has got more scope for improvement(3-4gls) than us.
thats the thinking isn't it really. That we have peaked and if anything are going in weaker this year without Sandi in Rd 1 and no Bennell who was our trophy signing in the off season. The Dogs on the other hand are young and on the rise so will be expected to improve.
The difference may prove to be how well prepared each team is after the off season. RTB has some pretty big runs on the board in that dept and doesn't leave much to chance. Dogs won't take us lightly of course but I expect them to be very confident.

Not for me. Against Bulldogs Sandilands gives us a powerful advantage. We lost that advantage.

Yes and no. From what I remember they were sharking Sandi's taps anyway. The only good thing about Sandi not playing is that we're a little bit more unpredictable, as I'm sure all existing vision has him as the star of all our stoppage work.

Sandi became a liability late in that game when the Dogs did not compete in the ruck and played an extra mid around the ball ups. I was at that game and they ran us down and nearly got us with that tactic. Clarke is a different proposition .He can chase and tackle. Hopefully Sandi out could be to our advantage. At least that's what I keep telling myself.

I agree with that. I've also noticed when the opposition doesn't put up a real ruck Sandi becomes a magnet for free kicks against. He's just so much bigger than his opponent that getting them high, or muscling them too much out of the contest is going to happen.

And to think I used to love you. It'll be a worry if we're missing those 2 first game of the season, even if it is because of Etihad.

That was a major reason for the in balance of free's towards the Dogs. You're spot on with the Sandi and smaller opponents assesment.

this is a fun way to pick your 22. shows you who you've selected at the side and removes the duplicate if you accidentally pick a player twice.
the thing I can't work out is if you do it for each round which seems to be what the instructions imply or its your best 22 period.
