Just got the below email from the club:

"As a Victorian member, you have access to purchase tickets to Fremantle's Round 1 clash against Collingwood prior to the general public by using your 12-digit barcode number.

Tickets for Fremantle's Round 1 game at Etihad Stadium on Friday 14 March go on sale for Freo Dockers Victorian members through Ticketmaster from 9am (EST) Monday 24 February until 9am (EST) on Wednesday 26 February.

All other Fremantle members must purchase tickets in the general public onsale from 12pm (EST) on Wednesday 26 February through Ticketmaster (subject to availability)."

I thought the whole point of a membership was that you got into the games!? Did I miss the fine print somewhere about this one?? If it's due to the fact Collingwood have a huge membership base I would argue with this: who friggin cares? Why the hell wouldn't it be at the G either?

70,000 Collingwood members can't all fit into Etihad :(. And as you said members deserve to go and it's Collingwood's home game.

No doubt a bit annoying though.

Vic membership only includes the right to purchase an unallocated GA seat if seats are available. The stadium, on behalf of the hosting club are happy to extend to you the right to upgrade your GA seat to an allocated one. If you don't do that you may turn up to a sellout and be told to go and watch it at the pub.

Do you have to buy a full ticket? It looks like I'll have to organise tickets with a few Pies mates but that'll just be the upgrade fee. Paying full price as a member might be unavoidable on Freo's end, but surely the Dockers should lessen your membership fee or give you a token gift voucher that can buy more than half a scarf.

It would be a nice gesture wouldn't it?
I know this isn't their fault and seems to be unavoidable but the fact remains that it's just a bit of a dud deal. I feel like the GA tickets that go on sale once Collingwood members have had their crack should be ours given we've (essentially) already paid for them. I know there's always an allocated amount of GA tickets but in circumstance such as this, they need to do more for us.

Only for reserved seat matches. Which is probably only the Collingwood one (and the Essendon away game if we had one).
Thanks. So for non-reserved seating you just rock up and get into GA? I'm asking because my daughter is moving to Melbourne soon and she has a Vic membership.

It's funny cos Eddie MaGuire twiced bagged out the WAFC and the W.A state because they signed a contract allowing the ARU access to SUBI for one game a year for three years...which happens to be during finals (think the last year of that contract is this year? Or maybe next!)

And then week one of the regular season is scheduled and his beloved Collingwood are stuffed cos his showcase ground isn't available!

Gold!

Got my reserved ticket, L1 23. That's the Locket end, Seppo our cheersquad is still at the Coventry side?

I don't mind the Collingwood fans that I know, but surrounded and alone in a sea of pies fans isn't something to look forward to.

***edit*** well, that was the onscreen location. Actual ticket is L1 22, same effect.
AFL Docker Member here. Got L2, 31, row D (about 6 tickets). Lockett end 50m arc. My ticket, as an AFL member, was $22 cheaper than my friends' tickets.

My upgrade was $30 + $7 fee for ticketing... It depends on which upgrade you take Silent Alarm, not all parts of the ground are considered the same (I just went level 1 goals). I was just bummed out, I usually head on down with other people (or my wife if no one else) but can't get guest tickets for this game, so being alone with the pies fans will be a drag.
Jesus. Did you use the Dockers member section or the AFL Members allocation? The only ticket upgrade I've paid more than $8 for was the Grand Final.

I am on record as a fan of our current admin, however, if we are going to project professionalism in a tangible manner, then the club should have anticipated this scenario and gone into bat for our interstate members.

If I were you guys, I would fire off a pissed off email to Rosich about this. Not that it will change the current situation, but they may consider action in coming seasons.

At least they have brought the price down. One year we paid $189 for 5 $20 GAs. If you are a member of one of the MCG tenants, for 180 you get 11 GAs even now.

Just and FYI for all non members looking for tickets for round 1 that go on sale today in 20 mins.
Link to reserve seating: http://www.ticketmaster.com.au/coll-v-freo-reserved-seating-docklands-victoria-14-03-2014/event/25004C50ED4D164B?artistid=1055714&majorcatid=10004&minorcatid=711

The Freo cheersquad will be at the Lockett end (Latrobe St) and if you are looking for an aisle number that is close by go for 24-26.
We're not normally at the Lockett end...is this another Collingwood conspiracy?!

Could somebody school me on Victorian membership.

I'm just not sure if it's worth it.

$150 for 4 games.

I like the idea of being a member of the club i follow but i can't see the point. It's a lot cheaper buying tickets for games individually and because the games have Fremantle in it you can always get a great seat. If I buy a membership can i still bring a friend along or do i have to buy 2x memberships?, do I have option of premium seating for a fee?
