Anyone see the wandin game? Are we to believe the hype? Seemed a lot closer than many would have predicted.

Wandin will probably take a few weeks to gel. They looked to lack a bit of height to me. I think it was more that Mount Evelyn are not going as badly as some people thought. They will be hard to beat at home and looked pretty good at times on Sunday. If Murphy had had his kicking boots on, they would have won. They are certainly not relegation candidates, in my book. Actually, there don't seem to be many relegation candidates.

Gembrook look to have improved a little bit on last year. They are very well drilled. New players Scott and Vernal seemed solid enough. Robertson is missed. A marking full forward would complete the picture down there. I wouldn't like to judge Upwey on that performance. To lose one of their best players so early on a hot day like that was always going to cause them trouble.

Copped a Red card. Was at the Belgrave game Saturday and its all but settled in Division 2. Lots of questions about grounds and players in First Division and all very keen to let us know all their team are signed for two years.
Missed ya Finger. Where were you standing?
I was in the Belgrave crowd and they reckon its all stiched up.
Could only count three genuine Belgravians on the ground, tho.

I made the pre X MAS call that Emerald would win the 2011 flag much to the disgust of Blueboy.:thumbsu:

Ive already gone early on Belgrave, much earlier than the crowd Saturday Id think. The same reasons I did Emerald 3-4 new good players can win a GF in Div 2. Seems the whole Belgrave crowd agrees.:)

Looking at the Belgrave team for Saturday there's 9 players that I'd consider genuine Belgravians (ie played Juniors or been around the club forever). Think they've got a couple coming back this week which would also fall into that category.

Certainly an impressive performance by them on the weekend, but it'd be premature to think it's all wrapped up based on one result.

Jeez, 9. Wow! That many?
That;s a heap. They outnumbered the umpires then.

Watched the blue boys take on the lakers.

Seville's 18s looked too good again. Same with the 2s who would have flogged Kinglake if the kicked straight.

1s standard was quite good. Was interested to see how the boys would cope with the loss of some good players. Have adapted well, a new look zone and a smart brand of footy was too much for Kinglake. Credit to the new coach.

Kinglake have improved on last year, they have some quality big men and had the blues covered for fitness. Kane Jones was good as usual and i thought new recruit tom price was quite handy (BOG i think?). Seville got out to an early lead and led by 10 goals most of the game until a lack of fitness had Kinglake pull it back a few goals in the last.

Both sides will play finals.

Cheers, wouldn't that mean Woori will lose their points?

Obviously no response from the league regarding the witkowski situation must mean that all is above board! Didn't think the league would take any action after all woori are one of there favourites, even if there was 24 woori blokes upstairs last year putting there beers on the league account at the interleague game!!! When they got the bill would've thought fooey was racking his dim sims up to it!

Yep reckon your On too something here
I remember at the grand final last year this was the case,
Why are the grand finals always at woori
There is too much advantage for the home team
It goes back to the worowa days I reckon

Seriously fellas  Where was the Grany last year again? League favourites? A little far fetched it sounds like, or maybe just sour grapes. If you are in fact the best team in the comp you'll find a way to win regardless of the venue. Upwey proved that.

Tend to agree...

Gembrooke were way better, but from last years Grand Final:

Sloane
Van Hoorn
Van Hoorn
Parsons
Porter
Bell
Lee
D. Waters
S. Waters
Kamoen

so it was actually 10

You missed Grenda. And Kamoen didn't play G/F I dont think.

Gembrook were missing 6

Kidd
O'Neill
Shuedekoph
Tomlin
Sierakowski
Roberstson

yes you are correct. although i did miss Chaddy Davis, Dawson & Chris Gooley too.

so that makes over half the team from the GF. no excuses but thats pretty massive.

I know we all love to use the "no excuses" line, but there are plainly sometimes where missing/injured player numbers are the excuse, especially at our level.

Yep some big holes right there. Some good kids coming through though particularly Robinson - he can play. I wouldn't be under estimating Upwey as Olinda recently found out.

Most clubs could cite similar missing players. Olinda has over the past couple of seasons seen a more natural changing of the guard thanks to some talented u18 players coming through to now play seniors.

Missing from last weeks seniors Upwey game that have played in the past two seasons - M.Scott, T.Scott, A.Greenall, B.Day, S.Tregonning, B.O'Neill, D.Troutman, D.FitzGerald, C.Eade, P.Rosier, A.Reid.

This just means that our younger players get an opportunity to play seniors. It would appear that both Woori & Upwey are also considering the future benefits of playing their young players. Great to see for the comp.
Of some concern must be only four clubs in Div 2, having their u18's play last weekend.
