2001 draft - extremely deep in talent
2002 draft - fairly poor in quality

Sampi picked #6 in 2001 draft. In 2002 draft Goddard and Wells were clearly the best, but 3rd was probably a toss up between several players (as Salopek at #6 proved).

Thats obviously an opinion. You can't really make a definate comparison like that. But even if you disagree, Sampi was picked at #6 - which is still very high - so he obviously possesses a lot of talent. I'd like to see him given more game time.

The reason last year's draft was so good was because it went so deep. You could probably get a good prospect if you had #40, while this year, #40 wouldn't be worth much. This year's draft wasn't poor in quality when referring to the top picks, but it didn't go deep. But yes, Sampi obviously does have a lot of talent because he got picked up at #6 in a very deep draft.

No, I don't agree that Sampi would have gone at #3 in this years draft. Maybe if WC or Freo had that pick, but neither of us did.

Maybe he wouldn't have, but D4E's point that Sampi went at 6 in the strongest draft ever was a valid one. The guy has a lot to live up to (especially when he went only 3 picks behind Judd).

Yeah I agreed with that part.

Hey Jod,

Note that you have a new sig. Is it to celebrate Big Footy`s return?

How macho......................cough, spit, footy boots.

Demeans you.

Geez, Jod's a worry.. every since Lioness and EF started chasing all over him, he's acting like James Bond (the Roger Moore version)

And he can't even get the grammar right...it should be "they're", not "there" in both sentences.

Who'd want to hop into the sack with someone who can't even use good grammar? (no, don't answer that girls...)

Geez....Im thinking about disappearing for a week or two and letting Dan run away with the lead. All this pressure and scrutiny being number 1. The haters, the women. No wonder Dan is disliked :D

P.S. Cmon Mead, give me a little respect. At least I could be the Peirce Brosnan version. Connery is probably a little out of my league.

Concerning our round 1 lineup. Regarding Tredrea I think Jakovich should be given first crack. No doubt he will be setting himself up for a big one. He knows aswell as we do that Tredders has had the wood on him in the past.

As we have dicussed, Tredrea is very quick on the lead but if we can win the midfield and put pressure on the delivery it will leave Tredrea having to win body on body 1 on 1 contests with Jako which he just wont win. Also depends where Tredrea leads from. If he leads right up the ground and receives the ball 70 or 80 metres out from goal. Then I think we can let that happen.

Why not use McIntosh though? Strong enough and smart enough to win body on body and quick enough to stay with Tredrea on the lead. It doesnt cause matchup problems as Cornes, McIntosh's probably opponent if Jako takes Tredrea can be easily covered by Collica or Hunter.

Only problem with that is where to use Jakovich?

Could've been worse... George Lazenby anyone?

Mead - Agreed, although I don't chase.

Anyway, FWIW I doubt Sampi would've gone as early as he did, if we'd not had such shockings seasons over here.

When are we expecting Morrison back? By all reports Ready's rearing to go (he was in awesome form last preseason), but there's little mention of Chad.
Have both his recons been to the same knee? Or different like Phils?
I would've expected to hear more about him by now.

I picture Jod more as the fat Russian guy who Robbie Coltrane played in the earlier Brosnan ones ;)

McIntosh's knees are a consideration. The increased twisting & turning of playing further forward puts too much pressure on them. Actually, that info is a few years old now, things might've improved? (Or, given it's his farewell year, we could run him into the ground, then present him with a golden wheelchair when he retires? :p )

Grow up, 007..

Well there's the proof that 'M' is actually Suzi.

Don't know about you, but I see VoR as the Connery version of Bond. Slightly elder, yet still superior quality.

Mr Eagles BFWCEPOTY (or whatever it was called) suit makes him prime candidate for the Brosnan redition.

Sabre is clearly 006. Formerly one of us, yet turned to the dark side in the quest for success, yet was dreadfully dissapointed. Pride restricts him from returning though...

I saw Kenny more as a Zukovsky. Supposed to be an 'enemy', yet ends up on our side.... hmmmm

Ahem, apparently she's MY era, so I'll thank you not to go wandering into my modern, stylish territory ;)

(Does this mean I can blame Jod for how awful Moonraker was???)

Nah, Sabre's more your George Lazenby - Australian (presumably), tried hard, mostly forgotten and universally bagged.

You know, I think I'm the only person on the planet who liked Moonraker.

Well, positions are still open for Timothy Dalton, George Lazenby, Q, and a heap of assorted badguys....

Goldenblue = Q
Eagle_Fan = Moneypenny, obviously :)
USAEagle = the CIA operative (be it the one who was shark bait or the big guy from Goldeneye/TND)

Jaws? Well Thrawn is scary, and Jaws ius scary... so draw your own conclusion.

Who'd be Oddjob then? Keup?

I am certainly not Moneypenny, I thought carly was more the the innocent one around here...... ;)

Lioness is Pussy Galore (too bad Spidey doesn't frequent our humble establishment).

Mr Eagle, USA Eagle is Felix? I loved his name...
