Is it too early to discuss the Dogs Round 1 team?

I just look at the forward line and think back to back is on the cards.

Smith Boyd Dickson
Crameri Cloak Stringer

Rotate Picken, Bonti and Roughy in there as well.

We're getting a better image but you'd have to wait until the draft and pre-season. Injuries happen, players under-perform in pre-season. Long way to go

Wood Adams Boyd
Murphy Morris JJ
Macrae Libba Hunter
Crameri Cloke Daniel
Stringer Boyd Dickson
Roughy Bont Dahlhaus

Picken Dunkley Cordy Mclean

Back up options: Suckling Smith Roberts Honey Webb Wallis ( in when right ) Redpath Biggs Dale Collins Williams pick 18 & 26.

Think we are in very good shape. That's off top of my head don't think i'm missing anyone.

2018 if needed we have Cordy for Morris Williams for Murphy and Biggs/Suckling for Boyd. Hopefully Collins come on and he can replace Adams if he was to go.

Dogs fans give Clay Smith such a rough ride yet he was one of our best and most important finals players. Gives us far more versatility then Cloke.

Biggs Adams Boyd
JJ Morris Wood
Macrae Bont Hunter
Crameri Stringer Murphy
Smith Boyd Dickson
Rough Libba Dahl
Daniel Jong Picken Dunkley

Biggs - Adams - Wood
Johannisen - Morris - Murphy
Macrae - Bontempelli - Hunter
Picken - Cloke - Crameri
Stringer - Boyd - Dickson
Roughead, Liberatore, Dahlhaus
Daniel, Boyd, McLean, Smith

* that's tough. Have no idea how to find a spot for Dunks or Suckers.

Moyd - Adams - Morris
Murphy - Fletch - Wood
JJ - Macrae - Hunter
Crameri - Cloke - Picken
Dickson - Boyd - Stringer

Rough - Bont - Libba

Dahl, Biggs, Smith, Daniel

Want to fit in Dunkley or Jong but can't justify them as better yet.

McLean also unlucky and Dickson will feel the pressure

Dale - just a few kegs and we have something very very good there a good preseason and he may well be the surprise packet.

Suckling will play as a replacement of injury as will Campbell (for Roughy or Toyd).

Cordy, Williams and Webb will develop and eventually replace some tired legs.

Wallis will also try to get back as early as he can and like Smith many will have forgotten just how good is but will slot in as soon as fit. Big Red will now have Cloke to jump so that is hopefully a challenge but in any event may not have time to force his way in before the end of the season.

Prudden and Honey have shown they can contribute at AFL but have a few above them at this stage.

Collins, Lynch, Hamilton and R.Smith could be anything - to early to tell.

New guys drafted will have a tough time getting a game but who would have thought at the start of this year that Dunks would keep put some pretty handy players.

Have i missed anyone?

Do we expect Murph to be ready round 1, or does he ease back after a few rounds in the VFL ?

Why? Who are we picking up in the draft that's going to crack the Premiership 22?
Josh Dunkley did it last year.

It's entirely possible that somebody we draft breaks into our 22.

Wood Adams Boyd
Murph Morris JJ
Hunter Bont Macrae
Dickson Boyd Crameri
Stringer Cloke Smith

Roughie Libba Dalhaus

Biggs Daniel Picken Suckling/Dunkley/Mclean

I'm sure we will have some sort of injuries but barring injuires that's the side I would go with.

Don't think we need to play Roberts, we should be fine with Adams and Morris during the regular season, Id imagine he would get few games during the season tho.

Man that's a good team.

Teams don't work in the old school format so I won't do mine like that...

Backs
Boyd, Morris, Adams, Wood, Bob, JJ, Biggs,

Mids
Rough, Bont, macrae, Libba, Dahl, Hunter, Daniel

Forwards
Stringer, Boyd, Dickson, Crameri, Picken, Smith, McLean

Forward/Back
Cordy

Depending on team balance and who we are playing these guys come in...

Small back
Suckling
Williams

Key back
Roberts
Smith

Tall Forward
Cloke

Mid/Forward
Jong
Dunkley
Dale
Honey

Mid/back
Webb

Ruck
Campbell

Think that's everyone.
Obviously Wallis comes in when fit.

Suckling is the interesting one, so much half back talent that having one trick isn't enough to get a game for the Dogs anymore.

I look forward to see how Williams goes next year really looks like a player.

Don't think Cordy will play round 1.

It is so tough for spots now, is this the best Bulldogs list we have ever assembled?

We won the flag because

1. We played for each other and the coach
2. We were under rated because injuries
3. We were just so hard at it and never laid down
4. We do have a lot classy players
5. A superior game style when everything was on the line
6. We have the best coach in the league

For most of the year we got our goals by hard work and we struggled with contested marks in the forward line even in the finals. I would suspect Bevo will say we cannot just repeat what we did last season and will be tweaking our game especially up forward. I suspect he will back in a game plan that suits players that can take a grab up forward. The new version of Tom premiership specialist Boyd, Crammers and Cloke with support from any number of players Jake, Dickson, Picken, Smith etc.

We are now the hunted not the hunter and that is a huge difference so we do need to be different, bold and all the things that won us the flag.

The big question is can we be us hungry coming off probably the most celebrated and joyous flag in AFL history. There is only one coach I would back in to achieve this and we have him cool hand Luke.

I don't have Cloke in our best 22 if Boyd, Roughy and Campbell are all fit for the time being (pre-season form pending etc.).

Look at his goal per game averages since post-bye 2015. Take away the illegal glove game vs GWS and it becomes even worse. He doesn't get a game ahead of Campbell as a 2nd key forward with Crameri returning.
