Richmond have plenty of Friday and Saturday matches. Could be a good loophole midfield rookie for the first few weeks. If that strategy is of interest.
Lost me. How exactly are you going to use a non-playing midfielder as a loophole option when he plays on Fri/Sat eIMM?

Sunday and monday games will only be squads at the start of tonights game.
with an interchange group of 6or8 or something.
could cause some rookie headaches

Still get unlimited trades for teams that aren't Carlton or Richmond until their matches start IIRC.

Only potential headache is whether to put Clem Smith in your side or not. If the rookies don't come up then yes.

He doesnt look like the greatest scorer, so unless he has great JS (which doesn;t seem the case) there are probably better options. Surely still plenty of rookies to start R1 :$

I'll miss the subs being named etc. not sure whether to a) start McIntosh at D6 and hope he isn't named sub, or b) leave Lambert on the bench incase he is a late inclusion. Leaning towards leaving Lambert out though.

Would definitely have McIntosh on the bench, possibly as emergency, and start Saad on the ground (assuming you're only starting one rookie). Lambert out is probably safest, but it would SUCK to miss him on the off-chance he does play and avoid the vest.

The risk is if I start McIntosh on the bench and he plays, and then Saad is the sub haha

If a rookie starts on the ground, especially in Round 1, I would take it. You have no idea how the rest of the games will turn out. All you can do is go off the facts and if a rookie is starting and has a small chance of being subbed out i would take it!

Yeah, but then you can also have Saad on the bench and have third back line rookie on the field? Plus it seems very unlikely Saad will be sub (same with McIntosh admittedly).

No I mean starting Mc is a risk for me coz I won't be home to hear who the subs are and can't put him to the bench if he is, read above posts lol

I wouldnt worry to much about that he is named on the field. Sub will probably be Gordon.
