It's like saying that Fremantle are not worse off without having Fyfe. But, Fremantle do perform decently without Fyfe, which is why I think Adelaide will be a decent side without Dangerfield. But still, I don't think it is unreasonable to suggest Adelaide will miss finals because of the loss of a player like Dangerfield
I think Fyfe is a bad comparison simply because he is Fyfe. IMO you have Fyfe and GAblett, then a big gap, then the likes of Dangerfield, Pendlebury, J Selwood. Still elite players but not like the first two who have changed the game individually.

So alternatively, imagine taking pendles out of Collingwood. How far backwards would they go. But what if at the same time treloar was coming in? Clearly different players but does that offset the loss to a degree?

This is how many crows fans are thinking about it. We lose Dangerfield but gain b crouch. Of course it's not like for like and b crouch has a lot to prove still, but it's not all doom and gloom and touch wood what some think is a gaping hole may not be so drastic after all.

Whilst a lot of crows supporters wil tell you it's about sharing the load, changing the game style to suit the playing group and natural improvement across the list, the fact is if b crouch has another injury setback then there will be many tears on the crows board (including mine).

Yes ... kind of. Personally I prefer to look at it across the entire midfield rotation. To my mind it isn't as simple as a direct substitution of Dangerfield with Brad Crouch. I like to think of it as: Brad Crouch being a downgrade on Dangerfiled, Matt Crouch 2016 being an upgrade on Matt Crouch 2015, Seedsman being an upgrade on Henderson, Atkins or Knight being an upgrade on Mackay, Smith in 2016 not getting the concussions which degraded the performance of Smith in 2015, and Milera bringing a whole new level of class which the Crows simply did not have in 2015.

Pendlebury would be a huge loss for Collingwood, but manageable with the addition of Treloar. Still a huge loss though. Dangerfield is a huge loss too, but I don't know much about B Crouch so I can't comment on whether or not he'll be a decent replacement for him.

But, I agree. As a whole, Adelaide should be able to manage the loss of Dangerfield. With a better forward line than last year, Adelaide has the ability to make more use of forward 50 entries should the loss of Dangerfield weaken the midfield and thereby reduce the average amount of inside 50 entries. Hence, the team overall should be able to manage his loss successfully even if B Crouch doesn't end up filling the hole Dangerfield left. It is a team sport anyway, not an individual sport.

If the midfield alone successfully compensate for his loss though, we could even see them finishing in the top 4. We'll have to wait and see though. First up, North Melbourne at Etihad!

Can we start up another thread for the Adelaide fans to get defensive in?

This round 1 tipping thread has more posts about the crows prospects through the year than it does about round 1 tips.

In our tipping comp we have a knockout comp where you have to try and tip one winner each week. Can't tip the same team to win two weeks in a row and can't tip against the same team to lose two weeks in a row. My certainty for the first week is GC. Will win in a canter I believe.
