I had both Raines and Scott Stevens in my defence, so traded Raines for Petterd (cause Raines is out for a while), stuck Stevens on my interchange, and traded Suckling for Cheney. However, i can't decide to start Cheney or Petrenko on the field. What do you reckon???

With Tuck out and Beams and Anthony not in the reckoning.. Is it worth getting Robinson or Dangerfield this week for Anthony? or cop a 0 for Tuck?

I'm the same as hot tiges. I will trade, but not sure whetere to get robo or danger. at this stage leaning towards danger. He should play more games, and should score higher this week. I think robo will score about ~45-60 this week, and danger was modest last week so should improve to ~80+.

But what does everyone else think? Robo or Danger for Anthony?

With raines injury and having hill suban and broughton in my team does this make it more important to use a trade now or should i have my fingers crossed that the rest play.

Hey Guys,

From what I have seen think I have one the worse situations here, I have copped all the major injuries here (except cousins)

Im not a fan of trading this early but I may have no other choice, was hoping to wait to next week to see what to do with raines and anthony.

Then today has cropped up Scott Stevens, Michael Hurley, Travis Tuck and the uncertainty over hill (potentially 4 out just up back)

Here my Backs and Mids

Goddard
Fisher
Cornes
Bock
S Stevens (injured)
A Raines (injured)
Hurley (injured)
Hill (Extended Bench)
Petrenko

Ablett
Judd
Sellwood
Wells
Travis Tuck (injured)
Rich
Otten
Anthony (injured)

Not quite sure on how bad Tuck and Stevens injuries are just yet, so im happy with them on bench untill find out more details.

Will definately need to make 2 trades next week, but the question is what to do this week to give myself the best options for next week also.

Anyone got advice here??

....going to find it hard in bigfooty div 1 with this early situation.

Anyone know of a very good back I can pick up for $525,100 ?

I'm looking at Bock, Burchill or Lake in the high 400 area or do I go with a cheaper option like Gilbert at 302K and save for later in the season ?

i don't think you can really go wrong with any of those three. have you already got PBurgoyne or JMac?

i had to make two trades, out raines, s stevens,

in cheney, gilbert. hopefully these two do very well, then i had to move tuck to the bench for rich. so that's ok for now. but here's the thing, now in my salary cap $333,700. good god what do i do with the money??
celebrate a buy yourself an Ice cream?? OR macca's??

I sure you'll find a way to spend it later into the season..........:thumbsu::)

Have always traded like a maniac. Different approach this year (hopefully)

Have decided to make 2 trades this week. Maybe 2 next week as well. As someone earlier said we don't have a crystal ball so I want to make sure I have the cream of the cash cows.

This weeks trades. 1 forced, 1 unforced
With Scott Stevens out and Hill and Broughton (not named), Raines->Cheney
Dealt with Anthony now. Have Rich and Robinson. So went with Otten. May turn out badly but it's a risk i'm willing to take, as if I get another couple of cash cows with 4-5 week injuries at least I have 2 trades and Anthony already covered.

It's all a game of risk...Damn u Scott Stevens for forcing my hand so early...damn u!!!

Will definitely wait til after round 2 for this one, but at this stage, what are people's thoughts on this scenario:

I have $19,400 in the bank;
My last 3 defenders (inc bench) are Hill, Petrenko and Broughton;
My last 3 mids (inc bench) are Robinson, Rich and Anthony.

i) I'll trade Broughton for Cheney, which would leave me with $8,600
OR
ii) I'll trade Anthony for Dangerfield, leaving me $8,600 also.

My dilemma is that i can't do both trades due to cost....

So my question is, which trade has more potential, i.e. who will improve more out of Cheney and Dangerfield??

I think I might just have a solution to my 'lack of funds' dilemma...Although it'll take some balls and I'll have to use 3 trades to make it happen.

Today: Malceski OUT, Petterd IN, and Broughton OUT, Cheney IN;
THEN
Next Week: I can use the extra 150k I'll have, to sidetrade :o Anthony to Otten/Dangerfield. It will also free up a few other things I plan to do in the coming weeks (bring in Grimes when he returns from injury).

I didn't see the Sydney/Saints game last Sat night, but from all accounts, the Swannies could be on the way down... And that's sort of the catalyst for this line of thought....

Obviously its risky, as it's only round 2 and I'm burning 15% of my trades, AND I'll be bringing in two Melbourne players (one will be a bench cash cow).

I'm tempted to wait til after round 2, THEN put this plan into action, just to see if Malceski can recover from his 60 last week. However; there's something telling me to go now.

Would really appreciate a few thoughts from anyone...

A bit risky mate. You are getting rid of a player in Malceski who is a proven past SC star and is guaranteed every game barring injury for Petterd who may come in and out of the team. Petterd's new role in the forward line is also a massive worry.....especially when Robbo returns. His great game on the weekend will not often be repeated this year again. I don't see him returning to the mid/back lines as they don't need him there. Sydney will be crap like you said.....but that's GOLD as the ball will be more in the Sydney backline which will advantage Malceski. People are jumping onto Petterd based on one game.

If you must free up cash I would go Houlihan for Malceski. But in my opinion that's a waste of a trade. That's about 50 odd thousand. Enough for you to go Broughton for Cheney and Anthony for Otten (Otten is taller, can play mid/forward/back for the crows compared to Dangerfield who is a lot more one dimensional).

But that's blown 3 trades in first two weeks.....ouch.

If I were you I would simply trade Broughton for Cheney and leave it at that. You know for a fact that as soon as you trade Malceski he will score 130 and Petterd will score 30 and be dropped........that's the way SC works mate:(.

Garland (injured) OUT
Houlihan IN

as soon as i made this trade i realised i should have brought in Petterd for Garland

Why? Houlihan is heaps better then Petterd in my opinion. See my above post.

Out Raines
In D Myers
hope this was the right move. Had 50k in bank, Not sold on Petterd/Cheyney as their spots ar'nt assured each week. Was looking @ 2 Donuts this week if i diddn't trade.Myers has a bit more Job security. 'I Hope" Thoughts??

Shite is Myers even playing? Let me check. Oh he is, nice :)

He's at an awkward price but could work i suppose. Petterd and Cheney would more likely make you money but Myers i suppose would be more likely to post decent scores.

I wanted to hold off on trades this week but with Raines + Hurley out of my backline and Hill no cert to play and Broughton not named the prospect of copping 2 0's in my backline wasn't one I liked.

therefore Raines makes way for Cheney.

Ok My backline is in a mess this week like everyone else.

B.Goddard , T.Lockyer , J.Adcock , C.Cornes , S.Stevens , Suckling & S.Hill (emg. Raines & Broughton)
Highlighted in blue (extended bench) in red (Not playing)

Have $18,600 in the bank.
Was wanting to go Raines to Houlihan but I'm $400 short:(

So I'm now open for suggestions please.

Willing to play short? Otherwise, someone for Petterd/Cheney, someone to Houlihan i guess. I dont know the story behind Stevens and Suckling so who you decide to get rid of is up to you and your research team :D

I'm happy to play short if required at this stage of the game (but not 3 short) hope Hill plays & now thinking Raines to Cheney at this stage which will just leave me 1 short this week & hopefully Stevens will return next week:)
