Are Blues a chance ?

Could be a huge season with all the changes.

Well i think the blues are a very good chance. its the start of the season proper and clubs are getting their groove back. although we have a couple of good players out (kouta stevens LA) i still think we can beat freo with pace and hopefully suprise a couple of people in the process.

I am not confident to be honest boys...I think we will be competitive for 3 quarters and freo will get on a roll, kick a few goals and win by around 20 points.
I really hope that kouta can get back to full fitness, its disappointing to see him so close yet so far from dominating a game of football. Apart from that I was very happy to see davies and mccormick spark up last weekend, so hopefully that gives us a few more options in the centre.

Although i like to try and think positive having Kouta, Stevens and Waite out is just to much of an ask against an almost fully fit Freo side. I hope we only lose by 20 points but it wouldn't suprise me if we lost by 10 goals.

Id like to say we will win by a point but I think we will go down by 10 goals. The hot weather that is predicted wont help.

Thanks AFL for setting us up like that!!!!!

Hot weather or not, that what a **** draw to start the season - dare I call it karma after all those Optus Oval slaughters? :p

Look on the brightside, we might actually be competitive enough to slam Freo when they hit the streets of Carlton in round 16 :D

Carlton may be competitive in many areas but one area where you are not is pace. Fremantle will have a decided edge over the Blues in the pace department. Even the midfielders you picked up are not terribly quick.

They are a damn sight quicker than the guys they replaced. Fletcher, Plunkett, Eccles and the 'never get out of first gear' Justin Murphy.

Stevie Kenna will provide pace if he goes in the middle, Clarke can run even if he can't kick and Johnson goes alright too. Pity we don't have Jarrad Waite available to mow some Docker midfielders down from behind.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMEN

Even up to half time then lose by around 9-11 goals.

Sandilands will kill us in the ruck.......

Seems us blues supporters dont take time to look at the players Freo have.........we seem to focus too much on our own team

Simmonds/Longmuir will have a huge height advantage

Deluca will suprise for us.........

I do hope I'm wrong :)

Cant help but agree. No Stevens, no Kouta makes it even tougher. Pavlich will kill us no matter where he plays. He is an absolute gun, Big brownlow bet. We will be better off preparing for Geelong in R2 to be honest

Disappointing result.

In the end we put ourselves out of the contest.

I don't question the boys committment to gathering the ball. The physicality is right, but the seem to be almost snatching at the ball, which makes for the fumbles and the hastened decision making.

They need someone telling them to ease up a little and think of taking a look rather than belting the ball onto their boot. When they think they're not under pressure they actually respond a lot better and it is reflected in their disposal.

Case in point being the Sydney game. Even though they were a bunch of kids and clearly an inferior team, the ease of mind of the boys resulted in fantastic delivery to our forwards, and much better defensive plays by the midfield (chasing and tackling).
