Not sure why you think Murphy needs time in the VFL. From what I understand he is back in full training and fingers crossed will get a full preseason in.

He has already had a taste of AFL so don’t think he needs more VFL time before being considered. if his preseason is good enough he should be in consideration for round 1. You would think he is currently in front of Bianco who was listed in the original post and has no VFL experience.

not saying he should be picked this far out, but don’t think he needs more VFL time to be considered a serious option.

Yes but it would appear he is on track to be fully fit come round 1. Playing football is like riding a bike. Don’t think he would have forgotten how to kick a ball or play the game. He has plenty of time between now and round 1 to regain any touch it has supposedly lost.

Simple inexperience. He's barely played a minute of competitive footy since 2018, it would be silly in my view to throw a 20 year old straight into the seniors with such a long gap between playing competitive footy. There's heaps of time to get him right and throw him into the mix.

Couple I would like to see squeeze in there, due to their preseason efforts, is Sier and Murphy. If we are to go forward I think we need a few of the 3-5 year players starting to impose themselves. I think these are the two most likely.

Tyler Brown and Keane are a couple of others that I think can start to contribute in the season ahead.

The best thing we could have done was get rid of the injury prone players, we can’t win a premiership missing half the side...if you don’t change direction you’ll end up exactly where you are heading.

I rate Murphy, I think he's better at AFL level, get games into him like Maynard.
I like Noble but wonder if he is too slight, unable to stick the tackle and IQ might edge him out.
I would play Noble over Mayne on the wing though

Bucks usually takes an experienced side into the early rounds of the season. So I expect the likes of Murphy, Noble, Quaynor and certainly new draftees and recruits like Bianco and Cameron to have to come in via the VFL.

If Murphy starts down back in Rd 1 over a fit Scharenberg.... IMO it will say that he has fallen out of favour internally

Presuming Langdon misses, you’d think they’d name a small defender instead given the Dogs’ lack of height up front even with the addition of Bruce. Please correct me if wrong but isn’t Naughton facing a very delayed pre-season and might miss some early footy? So we might be looking at covering Bruce, Schache and maybe Dickson.

Roughead, Moore, Howe, Crisp, Maynard, Noble and Quaynor to be the seven defenders with Shaz unluckily starting the year in the seconds.

I read that Varcoe is being training as a defender, assuming to replace Greenwood, I can see him starting the season as our seventh defender ahead of Quaynor even Noble.

I also like the move. Think he would be better defensively than Leon, but Leon’s foot skills were elite.
