Berry we missed you.

Lots of kids running around but not enough calm heads when it counted.

Why leave it so long to bring on mckenna? Zorko and Lester show that aged wisdom can better than young enthusiasm.

I really don't understand why we aren't using mckenna's experience to help calm things down. Should have been subbed in during the third.

Anyone know why mckenna just can't get a game or even time on field? Seems a weird..

Who would he replace today?

We all rightly love Will Ashcroft, but this was terrible from him in the second quarter. He showed zero desperation and made zero attempt to back Lester up. He simply stood there watching. This moment was symptomatic of a few players who really aren’t physically committed at key moments. Both Payne and Andrews were playing way too far off their opponents and it cost us. There was minimal desperation when it came to getting the loose ball and our forwards are still torching each other. There are only two or three blokes at this stage playing ‘selfless’ football and it is hurting us.

It's bad but it's not just Will. I was going insane at the lack of support in tackles from a lot this arvo.

Conor has looked pretty uninterested in the VFL. I was surprised he even got his sub spot back.
Must admit his body language walking off at 3QT still in his sub shirt didn’t look great. Assumed it was just because he wanted to be out there by then, and maybe it was, but if he has looked like that all year it wouldn’t surprise me if he pulls up stumps and heads back home at the end of the year.

Watch Collingwood atm and you know what you will get. Just so even across the ground and team orientated. And the focus is there from start to finish. Ready to go and fair dinkum every week.

Conversely we have a soft touch about us this year. We seem to waltz into games thinking we can flick the switch and win. That’s arrogance. Each week is a new opposition and they need to be respected or else you get what you deserve.

For a top 8 team we are far too easy to score against and we have lost the ability to score consistently high scores to mask that. Melbourne putting 90 plus against us is quite frankly embarrassing. Borderline one of the worst forward lines in the competition.

Can all the expert bf critics of Dizzy please be brave enough to say they were wrong & apologise
Ha ha.

You're the best.

He played a great game today ,the best he's played in a while and showed composure under pressure that was lacking in many of our other players. And his experience was a telling factor.

He's been praised.

Now , would you like to be brave enough to say you were wrong and apologise ( to whom who would know ) for all the times circumstances have proven you wrong.

Btw . Any thoughts apart from that on our effort today ?

Big problem is how inability to capitalize on the scoreboard when we have momentum

Been a problem for years and we were lucky to get bye last year to win the flag from 5th. But it’s unsustainable

Always get 20 points ahead then coast

Yeah.

We've got a lot to work on for sure.

Gotta get back to work if we want to climb the mountain again.

We've been in every game bar one so it's doable if we bring the effort. Not a lot of urgency just at the moment .

100% agree. McCluggage needs to lift in that area too and there was zero forward pressure from Lohmann and Cameron and very little from Rayner.

One thing I've been wondering about is our intensity around the ball . It was there absolutely against GC but fell off a cliff the last 2 games.

Picking and choosing when to get up? Plenty for them to get up for against Hoks. A potential Grand Final preview.

That two week bracket against the saints and gold coast was us back to our best. Unfortunately, the fact that we regressed again tells you the team just doesn't want it this year. Because that collingwood game should have been a wake up call, and it was. but only for 2 weeks, then they went back to old habbits.

Absolutely agree with this. In terms of forward pressure I thought our best game was against Gold Coast when McKenna played forward, where his tackling and pressure was excellent. And this allowed Cameron to play a much more offensive role and undoubtedly his best game of the year. I thought McKenna was very stiff to be dropped and replaced by Lohmann who is obviously underdone as a result of his ankle injury. Ah Chee also looks like he is struggling with fitness so we definitely need more ground level support in there imo.

If we keep giving Charlie games , Kai should be given time too .
I sort of don’t disagree, but I think they’re slightly different situations. Kai has had a severely interrupted season thus far. A game or 2 in the reserves to get fitness and touch I think would serve him well.
Charlie is still getting the ball, but he does appear to be on a decline. His inability to kick goals (other than his the GC game) is concerning. If he doesn’t show improvement then for me he’s almost reaching a “training block” situation. That’s a hard call on a club champion, but it’s been done before. He doesn’t appear to be carrying any injury.

So for me, short term i think Kai can benefit from a run in the 2’s to get match fit after injury.
Charlie gets a reprieve based on better output than Kai. Another couple of weeks to see if the recent pattern is a longer term trend this season. If it is, then the selection committee really has to look at making a tough call.

I don’t think that we have them both out of the side at the same time currently.

Give McKenna some full games, or park Levi in the forward line see what he can do, or give McLachlan another run if they think he’s up to it.

…but i’m sure selection won’t change and they’ll both play next week. I hope they can both turn it around, we need their spark and goals!
