Whilst most of WA and the WA media are going crazy over the form of the Eagles. I mean yeah they are on a roll but look at their draw.........far dinkum they are beating teams below them from last year and some from this year. These days if a team finishes in the bottom half of the eight - then the following season they get an easy draw s in playing the weaker teams twice. The draw is almost like a handicap where the teams who finish in the top eight get a tougher draw compared to those teams who finish in the bottom eight. Example........West Coast Eagles. Nice easy draw tehy got cos they finished in the bottom eight.
That's pretty much what Wa media was like when we were like really poor. Pretty much positively obsess over anything eagle when they're up and about, which they are now. Actually like it tbh, we just win and quietly go about our business. Just wait til the mighty freefall, it'll happen soon then the excuses will come out with injuries, travel blah blah.

Let them concentrate on Fyfe, so Mundy, Hill, Neale, Pearce and Barlow can run amok. Who they gunna tag?

Gotta laugh at all the "experts" on Melbourne radio saying that the Tigers will expose Fyfe defensively. Don't they know that if you can't defend you won't get a game under Lyon.
I love how everyone focuses just on Fyfe. Pfft expose Fyfe defensively... I'm pretty sure his defensive game plan this year is "see ball.. get ball". And that leaves 17 other players on the ground that are being ignored.

Ross alluded to this in one of the radio interviews when asked about who Fyfe would match up on. Pretty much said all Fyfey needs to worry about is his own game.

Mz is our best runner, will be scary when he gets back into the team.

I suspect Spurry out is a done deal, and there's already a plan in place, but Ross is not going to give it away until last minute so Hardwick has no time to prepare a counter.

As many have mentioned, Spurr doesnt have a direct match up. Morris is an embarrassment to AFL, Dusty not playing fwd this year (lord knows why), and Shedwards has graduated to being a legit midfielder. Good week for him to miss.

They're obviously trying to stretch us including Ty, have they even watched our games? Going tall against us is advantage Freo, team mid defence puts enough pressure on I50 kick to allow our undersized talls to cope, and then those same agile defenders just waltz it out. Griffiths and Vickery in the same fwd line, they are putting a welcome doormat out for our rebound 50s...

Tipping a repeat of the Kangas game. Will draw 2-3 opponents all game and will work the release handballs to the subsequently open runners. Was still top 5 on the ground anyway.

Lol who said that?

I think it was Nathan Brown and Richo on 3AW, he said something about not tagging Fyfe and just run off him to score goals and expose him defensively. It was ridiculous. All of our midfielders are two way runners even our forwards defend.

It doesn't even really make sense. The majority of Dangerfield's touches were contested possessions, if it was the other way around you could mount a case for him getting lots of the footy in space meaning Fyfe, his direct opponent, wasn't making him accountable.

Bit puzzling, they obviously looked at Dangerfield's overall possession count and drew the conclusion that it was because Fyfe was poor defensively without actually bothering with that high falutin analysis shite normally required when making such a bold contention.

Lazy.

In years gone by, Martin always struggled with his engine and being able to run out a game which was why was explosive for the first half and faded in the 2nd. I think he has probably improved his fitness to the extent now that he's more or a weapon playing mid all day and maybe considered a waste up forward if he doesn't have to be there.

Maybe Tigers fans can shed some more light on this.

Is this not the same muppet who said he didn't rate Freo and that we would lose if we got to the GF? I was listening to some of this yesterday, and the muppets we're going on about Freo being "cherry ripe for a loss" and "have to drop one some time."

I hope the tigers tag Fyfe (which will fail) so that our runners and other mids all run amok. Looking forward to the carnage. I hope we win - any chance the Vic guys can call and rub their stupid analysis in it if we do?

What I meant was they are much better with him playing forward. He alone won them at least 3 games of their run last year being able to beat his opponent one on one. That is his strength IMO.

Instead this year he's up the ground getting useless 'Cotchin' touches, a role any spud can do. Massive waste IMO.

Only element that slightly worries me is Deledio. They are crud if he doesnt fire, and in previous years we could put the house on Crowley bath-ing him. Big job for someone tonight.

Anyone know a good pub in Canberra where the footy might be on with sound? I suspect the rugby will be everywhere.

Disagree completely. You want your best players (who aren't KPP) in the midfield. Why do you think we play Fyfe in the midfield, even though he could go forward and dominate? And our midfield minus Fyfe is way better than Richmond's minus Martin. For Richmond to have any chance of competing with the big boys, they need Martin, Deledio and Cotchin all firing where the game is won. Send Martin forward for bursts, but he must play on the ball for large chunks of games.

One gets the impression he's matured this year. One of those players whom his fans rate as top echelon but like Nic Nat has done zero against us. A chance for him to make a statement.
