If so why isn't Prismall in then?He just isn't good enough so just get over the fact that Shannon is in the team and Prismall isn't!!!

calm down young one....i think prismall is overrated.

i was just clarifying your point for you, that is was not just one game.

List of bests in the VFL matches Byrnes played this year:

North Ballarat
Byrnes, Rooke, Mumford, Prismall, Lonergan, Davenport

Coburg
Johnson, Donohue, Laidler, Varcoe, Byrnes, Firman

Box Hill
Varcoe, Byrnes, Prismall, Johnson, Tenace, Firman

Collingwood
Prismall, Tenace, Hogan, Moles, Davenport, Firman

Williamstown
Simpson, Byrne, Byrnes, Taylor, Johnson, Hogan

Tasmania
Byrnes, Davenport, Mumford, Donohue, Varcoe, Hollmer

if this is a byrnes/prismall comparison you had better quote games that prismall acutally played in. sorry to say eliza but prismall didnt even play against williamstown and tassie. and has been bog against werribee and coburg. yes games that byrnes didnt play in i know but have to agree with the others on here that prismall is a far better player than byrnes but obviously hard to compare with the different positions they play. like most on here we just want to see prismall given a chance. i dont know why you bother with the byrnes/prismall thing cos you are fighting a losing battle. glad to see him in this week though for gamble. gamble is as slow as a wet weekend.

This being the case, why was Gamble dropped? He has without a doubt shown more than Varcoe so far and our forward line got terrible delivery all game last week...

Varcoe got plenty of opportunity in the AFL last year while we were dominating and failed. He will not rise into the team as a regular player. Goes missing for large stints and is only accountable when he feels like working hard. Funnily enough these are traits of the indigenous players.

Byrnes is crap and it looks as if the club are doing this just for public approval due to a loss. Make changes to a losing team.. Gamble is the scapegoat and very unlucky.

Hopefully next week Hunt, Gamble and Chapman return for the players who have shown nothing for a long period and shouldn't be there... Rooke, Varcoe and Byrnes. ;)

Gamble is injured. But don't let that get in the way of another of your mindless rants.

And Rooke out is absurd. What do you think we missed last week?

What? I got all that from the VFL website... Prismall was definitely not BOG against Coburg, because I was at that game and he wasn't that good. And Byrnes DID play against Coburg.

I bother because I am a Byrnes supporter (not that you didn't know that already), and I was merely showing evidence that Byrnes had been consistently good in the VFL.

Errr I do. I dont get why you made reference to my post? Bringing in a fwd player for another makes sense but Gamble is a FF and I dont think Byrnes would be considered a FF.

You said Gamble was dropped. Jub confirmed he has been rested due to soreness.

If Gamble's ommission was forced, the question becomes who is the next best option. There aren't actually that many so in that sense I can understand Byrnes coming back because he does tend to play half forward and the rest of the forward line can shuffle around.

To suggest Byrnes is in because he has performed better in the VFL, as some seem to have done, is complete nonsense.

We have played Coburg twice.

The first time:

Best Players: B. Prismall, S. Hogan, J. Laidler, T. Lonergan, J. Simpkin, D. Barnes

Oh, right! I only quoted the last six(?) games because I was too lazy to go back any further, and like cool cats said, Byrnes didn't play that match.

Yes, he didn't.

But in any event, you may now recognise that Prismall's performance in the VFL hasn't been to shabby either. Three BOGs as compares with Byrnes' two.

Not that it's relevant to the selection decision this week. Prismall is not exactly an obvious replacement for Gamble.

Eliza, not too sure if you know but those lists are produced by the coaching staff. I do agree Byrnes is a different positional player, therefore has his chance. However I was pointing out that your earlier post stated Byrnes has had a good year, he has, but Prismall has had a better one in the twos thus far.

Oh, really? I didn't know that the coaches came up with those. Anyway, if you look at their current form, it looks like Byrnes is doing better than Prismall don't you think?

Yeah I agree, prob why he is in. Plus like most realise they are two different players. I hope he does ok, there is just one thing I'd wish he'd do better, .......kick with his right foot.

Though if he gets a goal or two, he's done his job.
