Thought they didn't give up, some observations Flanders good as a mid finally. Rosas need more time in the VFL looked gassed at times, MacPherson actually impressed me , came on as if it was his last game and threw himself into itDoesn’t matter what the expectations are of this one, I’ll be there loud and proud with the drum supporting the boys. Suns through thick and thin.
I hate to say it but I was a little disappointed in Rosa didn't seem to be that quick and seemed to have a short loopy kick which was easily marked by the lions defenders , can't drop Rankine over him when we play Geelong. Was hoping for something that Coleman provided for them. Ins - Miller , Sexton, Fiorini ,Smith (no other choice), out - Bowes , Rosa , Burgess and LemmonsOUT: Bowes (inj), Ainsworth, Rankine
IN: Sexton, Miller, Holman
You surely can't drop Rosas after one game. Especially given how poor everyone around him was. Would want to show something though.
INs provide us with some bigger bodies against the Geelong team which we will desperately need. Maybe even try to bring MacPherson in too for a full game.
Smith surely won't come in. He's steadily played worse during his VFL games - not better.
You really think we're better off playing Graham and Burgess in the ruck? We got smashed in the hitouts again tonight 42-17 and got thrashed in the clearances 41-24. Despite getting dominated in the ruck, our mids worked hard to split the centre clearances 13 apiece but losing the stoppage clearances 28-11 obviously really hurt us tonight. It also didn't help that when we did win the clearances, we often turned the ball over on the next kick or the kick after that but trying to shark the ball for 70% of the game isn't really a winning strategy. Look out our hitout performances over the last month while we've been without a ruckman:Smith surely won't come in. He's steadily played worse during his VFL games - not better.
Smiths career is over. Big black line through him.I absolutely think we are better off playing Graham/Burgess (or some other combo) than Smith.
And yeah, that's with the knowledge of how poor the current setup is travelling.
It's startling how bad Zac is at the moment. I want or hope it's just a lack of playing much football recently. Just needs to keep working to offer what he used to around the ground.
Agree he has to play just cos he is a ruckman who is 200cm plus, ATM we are like a cricket team with no specialist keeper and are dropping catchesYou really think we're better off playing Graham and Burgess in the ruck? v Brisbane 17-42
v St Kilda 15-49
v Collingwood 14-50
v Sydney 20-76
These are horrific rucking numbers and we were only able to mask this gaping hole in two games due to the strong clearance numbers from our mids but we've been exposed massively over the last two weeks. I strongly feel something has to change. Zac Smith had 28 hitouts in the VFL game against the Lions reserves on Thursday night and 31 hitouts against Collingwood's reserves two weeks ago in round 3 of the VFL season. Smith also has intel on Geelong being a former Cat and a lot of his former teammates still playing for them. I know people feel he didn't play very well in the VFL on Thursday night but surely it's time to try something different after two shellackings in the ruck department...
Low grade hamstring. 3-4 weeks probably. What is the injury to Bowes??
On the upside everyone expects us to get flogged as we are a once again the butt of AFL worldThis is going to get messy
