Gotta hand it to him
100 minutes of barely being visible but does the incredible and we're all on the Jed Train
Toot Toot
Jed's "quiet game" included the mark of the week (would have been better with a goal), forward defense pressure leading to turnovers (Ducks defenders wearing the brown shorts relieved when Jed comes thundering at them), a terrific 2ns and 3rd effort to keep the ball alive leading to Long's snap at goal), 2 contested marks could have been 5 if the umpires were paying marks fairly.

An ok game with potential to have been a brilliant game. Right now I'm stoke with what he can do and how much he's enjoying his footy.

I have to say it's pretty hard for me to watch these close games. I almost switched to radio.

That was a great game from both teams.

I was most pleased with the 4th quarter response after Hawks comeback. I had some doubt we can come back. But players digged very deep and delivered. Not easy to do on 5 days break in Darwin, 3 games in 11 days.

Metal to pedal and no breaks, haha.

These 2 wins should give players confidence. Let's see how far they can go. Lyon's defence is coming.

You could say it would be nice to put teams away when we have them on the ropes. Hopefully, it comes with experience.

Hawks milking for free is bloody annoying and hard to watch. Newcombe spin after Miller minor contact.

As I hoped, midfield dominated clearances. All players delivered there and had their moments. Only in 3rd quarter we lost contested ball when Hawks lifted.

You could talk about all players but I would like just to mention Swallow. He had miserable previous game but delivered a couple of clutch moments.

Great marks.

Fantastic Long.

Enjoy.
Glad I'm not the only one, I get so much anxiety watching those close games, can hardly watch it 🤣

The old 'just focusing on my footy' comment from Rowell. He's gone imo
yeah that was telling seems like there is some distance between him and Noah now, maybe he has the shits he didnt get the captaincy and thats behind the sulking His demeanour now in the media is really vanilla....however his emotions after the win were over the top so I think it isnt a definite that he has gone

Yeah I certainly hope so. Definitely want him to stay 👍

Yeah-certainly not the "in the hands of the Club and my Agent and we'll get it sorted"
All lining up now

I guess he was always most likely
Football is his life
He's going to be seduced by being in Rome and close to the Colosseum and all the action there
It's super sad
We just need to squeeze maximum compo
Surely the time has to come when some of these big clubs that our superstars walk to have to start paying actual hard cash/money?
Success in trading and on-field doesn't translate to revenue in anyway here like it does for the big Melbourne Clubs
Do we really need another top 3 pick?
We'd use it on another player who just takes up the next offer from Victoria
What we'd get for Rowelly would take an axe to the suggested membership price rises we're hearing about

With the local talent and already decent draft haul, you'd want a solid player and picks in return. I'm still holding onto hope he signs on with us. It's not done until it's done.

Way too early to put a curse on.
We’ve got a history of falling apart after Darwin.

There are many challenges ahead of us yet.

Onto recovery now and then St Kilda at Marvel.
lol are you serious?
We ARE playing finals. We all need to stop this loser mentality that’s served us for over 10 years - we are winners now.

Absolutely. In the first quarter I don’t think I saw them make one error.

Collins has been almost unbeatable this year and if we continue to play well could be in at least the extended AA squad. Definitely playing like peak Collins.

Obviously Noble and Rioli do their thing. But then either Jeffrey or Powell have a good game in alternation and both can be elite kicks and are very reliable marks.

Uwland has been very consistent. Got a bit cute last night with some decisions, but I think that just comes from our “pedal to the metal” mentality. Powell gets caught sometimes holding the ball. Jeffrey too can make some blunders. Noble might run into trouble or shank a kick after busting free. Rioli has to take the game on and might not always have anywhere to go.

Players are going to make mistakes in any game. But a lot of ours seem symptomatic of the way we want to play. We push up high. We try to chain out of defence. We transition quickly. And more often than not we do rebound and get forward, and there is a clear system to it.

Our defence is why we are winning games.
I thought Collins had a poor start to the year. Got towelled by Thilthore (albeit probably best tall fwd in comp now), some other early games he just looked slow.

Really strong last 3-4 weeks though.

Keep in mind he’s doesn’t turn 20 until next month, I’m stoked with the signs he’s shown to date.

Agree. A lot of people don't give him credit at his age. With his speed he puts pressure on opposition. I would like to know his pressure acts. He worked hard on 5 days break, crashed packs, spoiled. King benefited from his work. He probably should score 2 goals yesterday. Pass from me.

There’s a lot of salty Hawks supporters out there blaming everything and everyone for the loss. Saw one say they’d beat us anywhere else including PFS lol.
Feels good  Can’t wait to get home and watch the replay.
We have so much more growth and improvement left in us over the next few years too.
Life is so much better when your footy team wins regularly.

We've beaten them the last 5 out of 6 games so their opinion is void 🤣

So anyway something I have not got out of my head yet is that after the game the Hawthorn players didn’t do a guard of honour for Touk.

Isn’t that a bit of a customary thing to do for a player that gets to game 200?

Not forgetting that Touk did it at one club and has not wet his bed.

Discuss.

Brisbane didn't do it for Jamie Elliot last month, it's usually only for 300 games.

I wouldn't read too much into it.

Early on we had either no Mac, or an underdone Mac, which probably put more pressure on him. Plus the rest of the defence was new but is starting to click, which probably helps his trust in them to do their role and he just does his.
