i want schmodt in too, i don;t think kennelly should be back this week
i just don;t hold to the theory that because he's young, bird needs a "rest"
yes, bird still needs to more composed, but that will come with more senior game time
it's a good sign of our depth that the likes of schmidt, barlow, white, laidlaw and smith, among others, are awaiting a chance for a senior recall, having had a taste in the past 12 months or so
I am anticipating O'Dwyer making an appearance, he looks the goods from what i seen of him in the pre-season. But yeah, suddenly "What are we going to do if we get injuries?" doesn't seem to hold any water any more looking at the players that could play do a job in the team, like the ones you mentioned.

Would still prefer Schmidt to come in and play instead of Bird though. Schmidts been on our list a few years longer and hasn't done a whole lot wrong himself either. Both will play prominant roles in our squad over the coming years anyway.

agree absolutely
and also on o'dwyer, he looked good in preseason and seems to have been backing that up pretty consistently in the twos
there's plenty of reason for optimism at the moment

Remain confidant about this game. Richmond supporters i know think there a real chance but we should end up being able to wear their young bodies down and if we can minimize richo's effect on the game we should be able to control this match.

Taken my bets of $50 on 20-39 and $50 on 40-59.

Showers predicted for tomorrow, could ruin a chance of a big margin.
Oh lovely ... :(

But they said showers were to be expected on the daay of the match against Essendon @ ANZ. I'm hoping they've stuffed it up, as usual.

It sure beats the song you sing about hitting the piss and beating people up if you lose.
Cool.

Never had a problem with the group, I'm just hearing reports from reliable sources they've toned up the words and action this year possibly with a bunch of new hangers on to the old core being the main problem.

There's a couple of chants containing some profanity, although they're not new. There was some trouble during the Hawthorn game and a lot of finger pointing afterwards; one or more Richmond supporters standing with the grog squad that day may have been responsible, but I don't know the truth. For some reason, there's a faction of Hawthorn supporters who imagine that our clubs are bitter rivals. There were no issues last week in a crowd of 60K, despite the support at the Punt Road end being pro-Essendon.

Let's not get cocky here. Richmond have really improved their competitiveness and now with showers about, one can't help think about an infamous game in 2004 where we were suppose to crush Richmond at the SCG. Unfortunately for us though it was very wet and Richo tore us a brand new one. We lost by a good 30 points.

Let's hope our boys can adapt today.

The tiges if they win, will be only 4 points out of the 8, I think they will come out fighting, big game for them, not gonna be an easy one! Go Bloods!

Probably one of the more infuriating games i've ever seen. Richmond did well that day, and Richo had a day out. But it wasn't as much as 30, it was quite close, maybe 1 or 2 goals in it. It was pretty low scoring.

But you are right, Richmond have been playing well and they could beat us if we're not playing at the top of our game. In saying that, if we do play at the top of our game, we should be comfortable winners.

If it rains, it will suit your players with the hard bodies. Although, we have some tough nuts in King, Tuck, Johnson and Foley. Your bigger bodies will smash us at clearances etc.

Looking forward to it as the minutes pass. :)

If it rains, it will turn into a stoppage fest of contested footy. Usually you'd get a lot of that with us anyway, but there'd always be the odd ten minute burst where we'd slam on 3 or 4 goals quickly.

If the Tigers are prepared to go shoulder to shoulder with us the rain will keep them in it IMHO. Richmond are the most improved side in this area in the comp. Although Sydney are now very good at finding a way to score in games where traditional 6 man forward lines would ordinarily struggle. But without the clean marking dry weather would allow Richo and co, they could struggle find a score.

But I reckon it won't rain today in any meaningful way.
