Can we just take a moment to talk about Beams game? 5 goals, 31 disposals, 6 clearances, led from the front the whole game. All this after stepping down from the captaincy, could he honestly get better??

Bit of a nightmare game. Good fight in the second half but those injuries are really worrying, three super important players. Hoping we can bounce back against Essendon and then recover during the bye.

Beams is a superstar.

Seriously though, with Raynor, Clugga, Zorks, Berry and to a lesser degree Taylor.. do we need Beams at the stoppages or can we play him in the forward line a bit like Ziebel now? He can mark and kick.

We could even stick Cameron around the stoppages more so.
He's definitely our best kick at goal and most settled player inside our forward 50. Increase his time inside 50? Maybe by a little, his in and under work is still very valuable. I do think in a couple of years he should be playing as a permanent forward though, could extend his career during our projected window too.

That's why we need guys like Mathieson to step up and free him playing forward more. We don't have the depth to do that yet.

Beams - fantastic game. Rayner - superb. Zorko started slow but worked into it. Robbo fantastic effort after an early knock. Lester for all the flak he cops put in a good performance especially in the second, some excellent one-on-one and sometimes three-on-one play.

That first half was a horror show. Created a few chances but absolutely butchered them and lost three players in the process. Just a fantastic effort from the boys to keep their heads up and come back into it and fight out - even win - the second half. To not let even let them run out a margin in fourth quarter red time.

The fightback in the second quarter was pretty incredible considering we were three down (not just any three either, McCluggage, Bundy and Cameron).

Beams showed real leadership. He and Rayner were the standouts for me. Both played very, very good games.

Bit of yin and yang. Abysmal first half, much better second half.
Gardiner pretty good, great season so far.
Andrews losing to Brown early on before coming back in the second half.
McStay: Missed 1/2 really gettable shots early on before grabbing 2.
Beams: Really good 2nd half. Stiill doesn't look happy out there. Never said he was a bad footballer at all, just think he needs to grieve.
Hippy: Better second half despite only getting the 1 goal.
Bailey: Showed some signs again but probably needs to do more during the game.

Gonna be tough next game with Clug, Cameron, and possibly Christensen and Robinson out

I worry that playing 3 men down most of the game will have us knackered when a winnable game v Essendon comes around next week

Yeah, light week on the track coming up I reckon.

Today again showed our lack of defensive positioning and run at the stoppages. A rare game in which Steph lowered his colours but Oscar was good. Nice stuff from Rayner and Bailey. Andrews and Gardiner starting to show plenty every week, our backline looks well set. Sad to say it, but in a couple of years Rich does not get a game.

They went down fighting it out.....that's all we should ask of them under the circumstances.

Looks bad on paper, but they came good eventually.

The coaches are to blame for goal kicking skills, or lack there of. They need to act ASAP on the issue. Not just this week in training, but every week.

Beams was obviously brilliant
McStay provided a target and stood up when our forwardline was a bit of a shambles
Andrews did well against Brown. If you heard North was gonna kick 20, you'd be happy with Brown being limited to 2.
Rayner had his best game and looked dangerous
Zorko had an average game by his standards but no else really stood up for the 5th vote.

Watched till the end - glad I did. Tremendous fight and heart in the second half. One of those where you know you're going to lose to Tue enemy, but you'll hold your ground regardless. Must've shown some real resolution at half time.

In years past that would've been an 90+ point flogging. Keep the faith.

Valleys. Chelsea.
I went with-
McStay- A bit quiet in the 2nd half but really was one of the few that stood up early.
Beams- Great, enough said.
Gardner- Showing some great consistency now, automatic selection now.
Rayner- Hard to believe he's a first year player.
Taylor- Ran his heart out all day to provide an option and used the ball well.

Went good as well- Zorko, Andrews, Bailey, Robinson.
