I've seen instances where I felt the players weren't honouring reid's lead when he was the clear target to kick too and heard commentators say if he doesn't clean up his kicking players will ignore his leads. Now i'm not suggesting that is what's happening but it could get to that stage or maybe he'll be the next richo and kick 800 goals and 1000 behinds.

Having a similar discussion with my boy at the moment. Putting some good leads in that aren't getting honoured which is frustrating him. I have pointed out that he is horsing around at training and barely taking a mark in drills and that has a knock on effect on game day when you are presenting.

Training report in the west last week said he was the last player to stay back to practice on his goal-kicking, so he's clearly aware.

Hope to see improvement.

I think he just needs a mark in the pocket and a flukey one to go through to get his confidence going.

Was thinking Hall and Long all week but now warming to Hall and Dewar.
Hall's contested ball work and 1st use clearance will be very handy and Dewars outside run and speed could provide a headache if he and Brockman have one of their better games at the same times.

Hall to come in and take over Ryan + Kellys CBAs, freeing up Harley and Hewett to be able to play a little more aggressive making up for what we lose with Ryan not being in there.
Ryan to stay forward covering one of Owies/Cripps

Would prefer Dewar came in, but I think itll be Long.
Dewar could split HFF/wing rotation similar to what Cripps does, but Long is still the closer like for like swap

Main one is I want Hall into the side. Helps get more out of Hewett/Reid imo

🦟 fleet inbound.

Ryan was our most damaging centre bounce player....

I'm in favour of bringing Gross in for Owies and Dewar in as a hf for Cripps. Hall can be sub.

Its not about taking Ryan out, its about letting Hewett and Reid have a bit more freedom not having to be first in trying to get the hard balls.
I want those two to have the opportunity to do what Ryan was doing.

McQualter and Archer travelled separately on a private jet so McQualter could run some selection and gameplan ideas by him in privacy before the game and get his approval. Then afterwards they had hot chocolate with extra marshmallows and watched MAFs together in their Snuggies.

I think that if anything hall would be replacing some of Graham's CBAs. High impact short burst players like Ryan aren't great swaps for Hall. Ryan and Brockman can't maintain 50+% CBAs and Hewett is probably better in the 50-60% range with time up front. I think thats what Hall would offer. Take 2-3 CBAs off pretty much everyone except for Brockman and Ryan so the midfield is more dynamic and less predictable.

Slight chance we've decided to pull Hough out of the midfield and get him to do a job on someone. Which would probably make the Hall choice easier.

But did Archer eat his veggies?
