Well, we are not favorites to win this one. We regularly are no matter who we play.

This alone should mean we finally break the Hawks winning streak

I was at the Hawks vs' Lions game last season, with high hope we were about to turn the corner. By halfway through the 2nd quarter I was messaging my mates, hypothesising that if this was the end of the run with this squad I couldn't go through another rebuild - and trying to figure which MCG tenant club I could switch allegiance to and still live with myself. With choices of Carlton, Hawthorn or Melbourne (after eliminating Collingwood, Essendon, Richmond), it wasn't looking good... but the rest is history!

Can’t remember when i last saw the lions win against the Hawks. Been at Docklands, MCG with the Scilly hit on McClug in front of me and Launceston the last three times and no joy. Hopefully can find a good place to sit in general admission. Was hoping for down near the Ponsford end on level 1 but seems the game day guide is sending GA up to level 3.

The worry would be if he was bursting with enthusiasm.

In actual fact we're going absolutely awesome.

Didn't you know we're bang on our expected score the last 2 weeks and the opposition have underperformed .

So. Here is a serious sober assessment.

I don't think Hawthorn is as good as they think they are. When things are going their way they can pile on a score. But they're not a team that will dig in and tough it out.

We've been fairly putrid the last 2 weeks compared to what we can play like when we're focused. This is the last time I'll say it ,we miss Daniher like I miss a chardonnay at 6pm. Heaps. We're off a shorter break and have a few guys sore but I really believe players like Andrews, Neale , maybe Cameron are going to be red hot trying to win this game and drag the others along with them.

Not saying we'll win necessarily but I'll be amazed if we don't come out a different unit to last week.

Whoa. Lovely. 76. Won't do your handicap much good but still ,it's a nice score for anybody.

Palmers Sea Reef . Port Douglas.

It's another world up here at the moment. Weather perfect. Course in pristine condition.

Greens in the Far North can be problematic. They've had an issue with crows feet but they're coming good now.

We haven't seen the Magpie Geese yet . They love golf courses. Hopefully they've all headed over to Mirage.

And the crocs.

Haven't seen a croc yet this year but the waterways are murky with lots of undergrowth due to all the rain in March/April so they're lurking there somewhere don't worry.

No one believes me when I say I play holes with a croc sitting off the fairway on a sandbank so next time one turns up I'll put up a pic. They're majestic creatures who don't bother you if you don't bother them.

That Melbourne game just reignites my frustration with some of the boys and I do hate myself for it. But I'm sorry I don't rate the show ponies - never have. And games like that reinforce it.

The crticism of Noz and Motty having dirty games doesn't sit right. Those 2 boys bust their absolute guts every time they play. Nothing surer. No one on the team works as hard along with Fletcher, Bez and Dunkley. Add Starc to that mix when he's back. Even Hippy, much to some peoples chagrin. Less than half a team.

Yet, time after time after time we see other players drift in and out of play. Watching AhChee and Rayner plod up and down the centre of the ground all the while knowing what they CAN do is borderline criminal. Cal was back to his worst, really poor. Rayner, well I can't figure if it's head or tank but either way it's a waste.

Harris needs to find some discipline and actually be prepared to watch his man from time to time. Bloody hell the amount of times he turned around to the ball arrive where he should have been was doing my head in.

Wash needs to watch some of the criticism of Mitchell and learn from it. The continual comparison with the Daicos boys isn't justified yet, he has a way to go before he's a reliable allrounder. Cheap possesions aren't it when the rest of the team needs you to contribute not constantly stand outside of the pack watching Dunkley take on 3.

Charlie... well... I'm not sure I've enjoyed a player more but how much rope do you get?

Watching Levi turn it over in the back half twice which lead to 2 direct goals alone makes me question the mindset of the players. Not because he did what he did, but because no one up the feild bothered to give him an alternative.

Lachie and Bags... who do we get this week? Either brilliant or ineffectual.

It seems we think it will just happen. Or someone else will do it. It's us at our worst. Read any losing thread from the last 5 years and we always lament consistency and effort.

We know how good we can be. And that's impossible to replicate for 30 odd weeks.

But we know how bad our worst is. And still we don't mitigate it. After all this time.

I have no idea who will show up this week. It must kill Fages to feel the same way. It could be a hoodoo broken or another plank in the hangover coffin.

Effort please guys, that's all we ask.

Port Douglas is a beautiful spot. I lived in Mossman many years ago. So much to do and see up there!
