I unfortunately have to begin this preview by making a confession, at first, I tried to get AI to write if for me. That didn’t go so well.

  • DeepSeek gave me an essay on the 1927 Chinese revolution.
  • OpenAI just sat there with a spinning circle till I nodded off.
  • ChatGPT asked me for my credit card details.

So I have had to resort to EI (elderly intelligence) and therefor many of the things I am about to write about may or may not have happened.

So football…. Well there are foots, a weird ball called a pill, sticks, whistles, teams um. Now the person with the ball has to run away from the people wearing different guernseys, who chase the ball and try to hug the player with it. When the ball goes through the big sticks sometimes the players from their own team will hug them and occasionally kiss them. So its a lot like keepings off with a side order of kiss chasey. Oh and kicking and punching (some times the ball, sometimes each other). And um the person with the whistle can stop the game at any time and give it to some random player, or take it for themselves, though no one hugs or punches them. OK that's enough general info to get you started and um so what was the point of this again, ah yes a game, Lions vs Hawks. Phew well no idea actually, looks like I will have to use AI after all. Now where did I put that credit card.

On form its an interesting match up, both teams in the top four. The hawks losses have been fairly narrow whilst beating up on the rebuilding sides. Though the lions have more points due to the draw our percentage is a bit of an indication our forward structure hasn’t quite recovered from losing JD and our backs have struggled, though mostly because the mids just aren’t doing them any favours at the moment.

I’m expecting Berry to return straight away though for who I’m not sure. If Starce were to return those two changes would go a long way to stiffening up our defense but there’s no sign that might be the case. The hawks ‘managed’ both Meek and Gunston last week which may have cost them a game, but you would expect them to return to face us.

The hawks have certainly had the wood on us in recent match ups though the margins have been relatively small. This record will no doubt encourage the Hawks going into the game and may lift them towards the end if it is a close one, we haven't been running out games well either. While the MCG no longer seems to hold any fear for us it is still a home game for the Hawks so expect the crowd to be vocal and influential, so holding them early will be a key to preventing any umpire assisted run ons.

Which brings me to tactics, now if Sam Mitchell can get all of his ducks in a row it could be a frustrating night for purists. High pressure hand balling game vs midfield dominance and pinpoint kicking. I’m not very good at match ups and such so will leave it to you all to speculate but I personally would love to see the magician take on the wizard. Whilst it’s a tantalising prospect I imagine Answerth will get that job.

Oh the blue spinny thing on OpenAI just finished, here’s what it has to say about the match.

Round 1: As the bell rings, the hawk makes to the skies, circling high above the lion, looking for an opportunity to hit. The lion crouches low, watching the hawk's movements with intense focus. Suddenly, the hawk dives down, aiming for the lion's back, but the lion craftily turns and swipes its paw, catching the hawk off guard. The hawk manages to miss the attack, but not without a few scratches from the lion's sharp claws.

Round 2: In the second round, the lion and hawk engage in fierce aerial battle. The hawk dives and soars, trying to gain the upper hand with its speed and agility. However, the lion's powerful leaps and sharp claws keep the bird at bay. The lion manages to make a few solid hits, causing the hawk to retreat momentarily to reset.

Round 3: As the final round commences, the lion and hawk both show signs of tiring. The lion moves in to kill, its powerful jaws snapping at the hawk's outstretched wings. The hawk tries to miss the lion's grasp, but the cat's big strength proves too much. With a final swipe of its claws, the lion emerges victorious, the hawk lying defecated at its feet.

Hmm thats odd I thought there were four rounds in a game? Anyway after reading all that I realise there is a lot about this game I had no idea about, but I know many on here have been pointing this out to me for a loooong time now.

But my personal prediction is for the Lions to beat the Hawks 12 and a half snickerdoodles to 2 pounds sixpence.

Now I need a cup of tea, a BEX and a good lion down. ;)
