Just about a complete performance.
Key backs were strong.
Answerth muzzled that little rodent.
Mids knuckled down and controlled the contest.
Forwards when the ball was on the deck were dangerous.
Got a few lucky frees but against a team who has benefited from them all year.. negligible.

I had Fort in our best today. He actually gave us first look in the centre clearances and really put in around the ground with no clangers this week that I saw.

Interesting Fagan said the selectors can't separate he and Oscar for selection most weeks which is a subtle change in the narrative that we've ever heard before.

I have not read the thread at all and I was at the game until the third quarter but I spent most of the third quarter walking behind my three year old but our defence was fantastic. Charlie's five minutes burst. Wow,
My best at this stage is Payne, Ainsworth and Harris.
They only kicked 8 goals so we annihilated their forwards.
Anyone who doesn't have defenders in their best needs to have a long hard look at themselves

The biggest challenge in the game when you're a very good side is the mental challenge.

You could tell from the first bounce we were a different team from the last 2 weeks. Neale set the tone . He was in there desperate for every possession. Unlike the Neale from last week.

Then once we had a sniff and got some dominance the short break and the soreness seems to become a badge of honour.

Much like our finals series 2024. The challenge now is to maintain the intensity against a lesser opponent on Thursday.

Beautiful game from Q2 onwards. Need to keep a bottle of whatever motivated them to keep the pressure gauge up handy. Plenty of occasions that couldve caused heads to drop but they kept going.

I know this is the Lions board, but there's a fair chance Hawthorn will have 5 losses to their name once their match against Collingwood finishes next Friday night. Alarming for them given how they were talked up before a ball had been kicked this season.
Day out for them has been a huge loss.

Plus Gunston has been having a picnic but once other clubs realise he can still play a bit I think his run will be over.

They're also not getting the intercept uplift they expected from their additions which means they continue to play Sicily in the back line when he's probably their best bet up forward.

After seeing Fort in a few games now and really watching him, I honestly think he is much more accurate with his tap outs to OUR players.....not just anywhere but here, so to speak, like Oscar so often seems to do.

...tbh, I love Oscar, but unfortunately he frustrates me more than impresses me at centre bounces etc

I have always thought this.
He is a better tap ruckman but has never been given an extended run.
No doubt once Oscar is fit he will come back in though.
But we do have the luxury to run with Fort until Oscar has fully recovered and I hope they give him the chance to.

It was frankly unfair having Payne on Gunners. Payne's just about the most athletic key defender and Gunners is uh... not.
