Yeah all the HTB he got done for today were there. But he was continually scragged at stoppages and CBDs and didn’t get a call his way.

Plus he was targeted by Dawson after winning a free kick but didn’t get a 50m penalty or anything.
It's also the ones they don't pay. He got tackled, arms pinned and slung into the ground at one point. HTB. But you know if Reid was the tackler it would 100% be a dangerous tackle

Or the one from a couple weeks ago where he launched the ball 70m inside our empty 50. Ball dribbles out. Deliberate

Then oppo players know now all they have to do is flop at the slightest bit of contact from him during a kick and the ump will pay down the ground. Other week, Reid gets dropped after he kicks, play on

Gotta be happy happy with the 1st 2 1/2 qtrs.

We kick a bit straighter in the second and Ryan and Brockman kick goals instead of behinds early in the third, we are probably in front and the lads don't drop their heads so easy.

That instant goal they got after Allens was a real punch in the dick that started the run on in the third, they could sense a flat tracked was on

4th game was shot so meh, who cares

Yeah that O’Brien one should have been dangerous tackle. Harley had still tried to break/fend off the tackle in the first instance though.

I think the umps know he’s going to try and fend or take on the tackle so they get whistle happy when one sticks. Even when they’re dump tackles.

Interesting game, I couldn't watch the first qtr but listened on the radio and it sounded very promising. I liked what I saw in the second qtr, they did alot right but once again we were poor going inside 50.
What we have managed to prove today is that the game plan can hold up against quality sides. We more than matched a top 4 side on their home deck for a half of football and a bit more polish could have seen us in front.

Naturally, a young rebuilding side dropped away in the second half and the flood gates opened. Unfortunately it's where we are at, and it will happen many more times before the rebuild is complete.

My +ves and -ves would echo most on here but the biggest positve for me today is the continued growth of Brockman. I had him a certain delist only a few weeks ago so I love that he's proving me wrong.

Mini summed it up well.

My first time doing afl fantasy and I thought if you make an emergency and use their score the player who you are covering has to be not playing and the club he plays for cannot have already played...example could you have a collingwood emergency and their score count if a Carlton player didn't play this round? Thanks in advance to clear this up for me....cheers and good luck to everyone

Just the most random as f*ck place to ask this question.

Positive:

We looked like a very young and talented AFL team getting flogged by a group of seasoned man-men gunning for the top 4. As opposed to a substandard side aimlessly floundering out of their depth.

Also I liked Mini not being happy with either half, despite me being reasonably happy with the first.

Negative:

Allowing the Crows to kick several in the third. Several!

I’d say Maric is under the pump. He’s poor one on one and his supposed ace - his kicking - can be pretty average at times.

Not sure if he’s playing out of position, or whether a spell in the WAFL would help (given they’re gonna be short on listed players i.e. bigger losses i.e. not much development).

But Bazzo had a bad day so maybe that saves Maric for the time being??

It's not him I reckon, it's the role.

When he's doing brain fades and jogging around with no intensity up forward we don't notice.

When he does it in defense it's quite frustrating. Wonder how many goals he conceded today with poor defending and straight up stupidity.

  • 20 Disposals
  • 4 contested
  • 5 from kick ins play ons
  • Zero tackles
  • Zero one percenters
  • 1 rebound 50
  • 8 clangers.
He had a stinker.

Loved the first half even though the umpiring did us no favours.
The frustration of the first half must get the players down when they are playing their hearts out and their momentum is always halted.
The second half was the result of the first
"Play your hearts out with no reward ".
It must be disheartening for the players to get no reward for effort.
Gotta say it,,,, is there an agenda from the AFL against WC because we are independent of their ownership of all but us West Aussies?
I hate that we are 18th and it makes me sad of our situation so, fcuk the AFL and I hope they read this and mend their ways,,,,, but I doubt it
"UP THE COASTERS"

Really pleased with the effort in the first half. I only watched bits and pieces then on but wasn’t surprised by the fade out in the third, it’s going to keep happening with the age and place the team are in. Overall the performances are sloooowly getting better.

My biggest negatives are I feel we still aren’t using a few youngsters how we should be. Marics biggest weapon is his kick, he can laser the ball. I can understand the thinking with him in the backline but unfortunately he’s just not physical enough for the role, not sure if that will come or not. He’s had good games this year and I really like him as a player but today his stats were so empty… to get beaten by 10+ goals and a defender has 0 tackles and 0 spoils, nah you just can’t have that. You can’t just take the kicks out of defence and that’s all. Hurn was doing it to lethal effect while marshalling the defence and taking a forward. I liked Maric when he was tried on a wing, his kicking is really noticeable when he’s the one kicking it into the forward line and to dangerous parts of the ground going into the 50 because he will bite off a difficult pass that most wouldn’t bother attempting, it’s also a position where the physicality on big forwards isn’t needed which negates the weakness he currently has and those weaknesses won’t get exposed close to goal.

I don’t want ginbey locking down on big forwards…that doesn’t utilise his great strengths. Bring in Bazzo, he’s a big boy and that’s why we have him on the list and free ginbey up to attack and rebound.

We didn’t commit to Gross when we should have and he’s regressed a bit. No idea what happened to Dewar after that game against Brisbane. I’m sure they will come on but I don’t feel like the coach has shown confidence in them, so why would they have it? He’s potentially sapping Clay Hall every week he puts in a good performance and doesn’t get a call up. Probably feels that the microscope is on him big time every senior game he gets now. For a rebuilding team with a lot of youngsters I’m getting this weird sense that they are being given the cold shoulder rather than being developed. They should be racking up games and experience. I still don’t fully understand why Hall and JWill were dropped to begin with let alone left out. Bo Allan 1 game, Greggo nowhere near the frame. I think we as supporters just want to see them out there at this stage.

I’m a bit concerned about our tall players. If Allen stays I don’t know how we will keep him, Baz, Willo, Flynn, Shanahan, Archer and waterman in the same team. At least one has to be a potential defender so why aren’t we trying? I’ve heard Reid or Shanahan have potential there so just give it a crack sooner rather than later. We can’t keep Flynn and Baz as the ruck duo up unfortunately. Even when they both have good games it might level the influence of the one ruck on the other side at best but even against the saints I thought Marshall was outstanding while Flynn and BWill were both good. Baz seemed to not get pantsed every week last year like Flynn is now and he offers a lot more when he’s forward than Flynn ever could. If we could land Cameron that would be such an amazing difference but then we have the issue of no room for all those tall forwards and I don’t really want to lose any of them.

Overall still think we are on the right trajectory and when the fade outs stop with time we will really make some huge strides but let’s not forget how far they’ve come in such a short time with this game plan, all with not having Yeo and losing gov. I wouldn’t mind more players cracking 25+ possessions more often, you could just look at our highest possession getters: Duggan 23 Maric 20 and know we lost. It would also be nice to keep settling the younger players in their roles and just pump the games into them.

Let’s mess Geelong up next week

I know we’re all hanging shit on Maric, but I’m going to pivot.

I don’t see what everyone else sees in Long. I can’t see him making it tbh.
yeah i was so bullish on long in his 1st year but that knee injury has killed him.

Doesn't look the same sneaky player. looks vanilla
