The Hawks finally return to Box Hill City Oval looking to make amends for a 10 point loss to Essendon last weekend and to get their premiership defence back on track, with the Hawks sitting ninth on the ladder, a half game out of the top eight.

The Zebras are also coming off a loss, having gone down by 24 points to Werribee at Trevor Barker Oval last Sunday (not to mention the scare through St Kilda supporters when boom recruit Max King appeared to have injured a knee during the loss).

The Zebras currently sit in seventh position on the VFL ladder, a half-game clear of the Hawks and with a significantly inferior percentage (89.88% to 119.44%) so a win for the Hawks would take the Hawks into seventh position (eighth-placed Northern Blues have the bye this weekend).

The match is also noteworthy for the fact that it will be Grant Birchall's first taste of football for almost two years, having last played AFL for Hawthorn in round 15, 2017 against Collingwood.

Full teams to come.

Welcome back Birchall. Good luck to Minchington as well. He’s a had a horrible run with hamstring injuries. I think he’s had three separate hamstring injuries this year alone. Like Birchall he will need at least 2-3 games in the VFL before being considered to play at AFL level. Hopefully we see them both in the senior team sometime before the season finishes.
