Without a doubt the lowest point of the last 7 years. This essendon team is missing half of their players, and we barely scraped over the line against them. A real champion team should have won this by 100+. Games like this is why we're pretenders and won't accomplish anything this season. The north game, the melbourne game, the essendon game, the collingwood game. This one somehow tops the rest as being more embarrasing than the other. The only positive to be taken from tonight is that i don't have to watch this garbage anymore.

We've had more embarrassing losses than this win. I have serious doubts about our capacity to win it this year but this isn't close to the lowest point lol.

This is an essendon team that had to go to the midseason draft to fill their squad quata. They're literally missing half of their team. This is a bigger joke of a performance than that Carlton choke last season. No idea how anyone who watched this for 4 quarters can justify what they saw.

Started reading this as satire until about halfway through. Pull your head in.

Another unconvincing win against a low-strength opposition (I know Essendon has a decent record but they have lots of injuries).

I choose to believe it’s because we aren’t too excited with regular season games and just looking towards finals :)

Great game from Clug

People like you, i'm sure, will be surprised the most when we tumble out of finals this year. Also, pull your head in mate. Tonight was disgraceful, so don't try and gaslight me over what i just saw.
Lowest point in 7 years? We are the reigning premiers on top of the ladder.

Need to remember that even our golden era we never finished 1st and had a flawless regular season. We'd get belted by a young Eagles outfit (Judd PTSD) many times in that era.

Obviously need to bank the points, couldn't afford to drop the 4 tonight and missed out on 6 against North/Dees but overall as long as we bring our best come finals, we can easily go B2B.

We are first or second in the league. We don’t really need Lachie or Dunkley running themselves into the ground in May

After some thought i’m happy with the result.

Their pressure rating was insane for large chunks of the game. I have no idea where the pulled it from, but they played like a team that had nothing to lose. It was never sustainable though and as soon as their pressure dropped, we kicked away. I think most will be disappointed as an expected flogging was just a professional win in the end.

Two concerns for me are forward pressure and inability to win clearances. They transitioned far too easily out of defence, and I felt like our mids once again got beaten at bounce for large chunks of the game.

I did tell myself a flag would give me 12-24 months of resistance to any failure on-field.

And yet I found myself swearing at the television.
I said the same thing. Reckon that lasted midway through the first quarter against the Swans when we were 20 odd down.

Funny old game ain't it.

23 wins from the last 28 games is impressive.

It’s a good point. We are winning games and have to give the benefit of the doubt to the club and the players that they know what they’re doing. There’s a compelling body of evidence that teams who are dominant in the first half of the season tend to fade towards finals. We’ll lift in the back end with our full list and players like Oscar and Coleman fit and healthy.

Yeah, all we’re asking for is everything to be exactly as we want it to be at all times…I mean, what’s the point of being on top of the ladder at the halfway point of the season if things haven’t been absolutely perfect at every moment?!?

I’m done with this club 😠
