Why are we all dumping Gross? We want him to play, he plays, we want him out again? Sure, he wasn't great but it's an overreaction after one game in a new position.

Nobody on here is "dumping Gross". McQualter is giving him the Hams, Parto, Winder treatment.

Personally I don't see the merit in playing him in the forward pocket of spoon team when he could be honing his craft in the midfield.

If McQualter won't give him minutes at AFL level I'd rather he carries on at the Beagles.

Davis/Long/Dewar might be more suitable in that role. Gross looked shot of confidence and very frustrated. Understandable, after the month he's had.

That's right..all melting for him to be played and huge debates over him being the sub,and playing the youth, like he was gonna be the next saviour (a la' Hall) and what happens next..not very much at all. I'm sure he'll develop into something fine, but it all takes time...once more...it all takes time.

Wait what? I thought I was the only person on the board who liked Gross and wanted him to play. And I don't want him dropped.

With both Waterman and Gov out I would say an elevation to vice captain isn't out of the question, along with a sensible amount of centre bounce attendances that is neither 0 nor 30.

It'll be very difficult to manage but something like 70% game time switching between the bench, half forward and a modest number of stints in the guts might be just what the dr ordered.

I get the whole Jack Williams isn't the same type of forward.

He seems suited to the early 90s Dunstall big power forward

he's not a run all day up the ground type which might worry McQualter and co

He's probably best suited to 2nd fiddle behind Snake or Oscar

He should still play v cats and prob kicks 2 or 3 coz he has a footy brain

He is kicking goals in the WAfL going well...if Jake is injured which is most likely straight swap for me

So if the midseason draft is wed and if that is Tom McCarthy can he play next week against the cats ?
Yeah I think he can but he would definitely need a week in the WAFL. Cant rush him.

If Waterman's injury is serious and he is put on the long term injury list we could we our next pick go with Selwood/Parfitt but if they aren't available could it help to try develop a project ruck man.

10mm of rain forecast. Sunday night of a long weekend. The BODE coming off a 10 day break and us a 7 day break off travel with injuries.

Hmmm motivation levels to go along to this one are fairly low. Though I’ll still probably trundle along as my young bloke will want to go. These last few seasons are becoming somewhat soul destroying though even for someone like me that is an ardent West Coast member.

Hutch should return to the forward. Gross can spend more time in the middle, Allan in and either can be the sub. Both back in the positions they're actually familiar with.

If it's gunna be wet, wouldn't mind giving Hall a go where his lack of pace and kicking skills won't matter quite as much.

Waterman -> Hall
Dewar -> Allan

WAFL team didn’t impress me any more than AFL (actually far worse - for all bar 10 minute patch at end of 3rd quarter I was happy with AFL even if scoreboard didn’t reflect it). So only forced changes for mine.

Out: Waterman (inj); In: J.Williams
Out: Dewar (if inj); In: Hall (and sub)
Out: Cole (if inj); In: B.Allan

And would like others have said to see more of Reid and Hewett forward with Gross getting some decent (at least 1/3rd of game) midfield time.
