Page 6:
All attempts to strike, kick, trip shall be allocated 80 demerit points.

Page 7:
tripping:
In determining whether a trip is above the level of impact to
constitute a reportable offence, regard will be had to how fast the
opponent was moving, whether the trip was by hand or by foot/leg
and whether contact was made with a swinging motion.

So yes a trip by hand can be suspendable, but is perhaps less demerits, esp. as in this case there was no "swinging motion"?

Indeed, and that is the point. Balla was at full pace in pursuit.

Tripping is charged when a player is basically stationery, or barely moving, in a contested situation when a player runs past or wrong foots him.

Do people realize that benfica is probably hinting at the fact that he/she may be assuming Hayden, Son of Haydos, could be suspended.
I've looked at the incident myself....I think it was anyone other than Hayden/Nat it would be nothing, but he'll probably get something while other people do bumps worse than Nat, give the opposition player a broken jaw or concussion, it will unfortunately result in a week or two.

Thus continuing that Soccer (Football) provides softer decisions and worse umpiring/refereeing?

Think I've seen two or three trips get off this year, Wellingham I think it was in round one springs to mind. Ballas could very well be the first to get suspended this year for it simply because it's ballas.

There is Brady Grey PGR.

True but untried on the big arena. Still into the fire s'pose. Just reckon that if the ump saw Ballas trip, which they would have done cos they gave a free...if they thought it was reportable they wouldn't have missed the opportunity to book him...and they didn't ...but that's logical and what do I know cos the MRP ain't!

I reckon Suban did enough for sure, was tough as nails (as always), burst through plenty of packs etc

Subans gonna break out later this year, hes teetering on the edge, all the parts are there, there starting to gel..................................................

Yeah...not sure Suban's made it yet...still a fringe player on 93 games and not solid 18 like his cohort on 110 games MDB!! ;)

Has Ballas got carry over points? If he does he may be in a little trouble, if not then he should be fine.
If you look at the incident though, he was actually tripped himself and then reached out causing him to trip.

Clancee from memory hasn't played in 3 weeks now, (missed 1 with injury, then the state game and a bye) so he ain't playing.
Mora just ain't ready, especially after having 2 weeks off.
Same applies for Sylvia, but he might be a sneaky chance as his last game from reports was very good.

Injury and Suspension aside (i.e. Ballas & Fyfe) i think probably unchanged.

We've been done for tripping by hand before - Dodd got given a week in 2008.

I even made a thread to sook about it.

From memory the circumstances were pretty different, yes?

I may need to see the incident again, due to the concern here, but from memory Balla was at full pace chasing, attempting a tackle, and stumbled, (got a nudge?) and clipped his opponents ankle??

A definite trip, but no different to a clumsy "legged" decision for mine. A free kick was played. Play on.

Think Silvia in for Sheridan is a reasonable call.

Surely there could be more forced changes, like a Fyfe injury. A Ballanytne suspension coudl also happen considering our back luck with this...

Wouldn't mind giving Mayne a game or two in the WAFL to find some goalkicking form, but don't really think we can messing that (and messing around with our forward line too much)...

I'm not really sure how a trip in a reportable offence in our game. If the player is in the air and you take him out in such a way that his head hits the ground first then sure but I think there's another name for that anyway (at the MRP). If the player is simply running along it is surely less dangerous than the sort of tackle that'd happen reasonably frequently throughout the game.

Indeed, and that is the point. Balla was at full pace in pursuit.

Tripping is charged when a player is basically stationery, or barely moving, in a contested situation when a player runs past or wrong foots him.
and it could also be argued (if you watch it again) that he was pushed from behind just prior to his attempted tackle.

Just watching the replay now he dives and just uses his hand to tap or clip his foot, almost certainly deliberate but it's not as if he actually grabbed his ankle and legged him lol. I'd be astounded if he got in trouble for it.

I can't believe you guys are going to let this guy get away with this. E is for envelopes.

Oh the humanity.
