I was surprised when Sherro was subbed out of the game instead of Fyfe, who was clearly injured and copping a heavy tag at the same time.

Me too.

But when I thought about it at the time, I realised I'd seen very little of Shero the whole game.

He was having a dog of a game. Couldn't get near it and wasn't using the ball anywhere near as well as usual. Something like 9 possies at 50% DE.

With Fyfe being OK to continue, it made sense after the fact. He did well against the Cats, but will be playing for Peel this weekend, for mine.

If Fyfe was a risk they would of gave him the vest. I know it would of been hard for Fyfe but I was thinking they told him to lay low and not contest like he usually does hoping he would still drag the heavy tag so Hill could continue to run free. They were persistent in tagging Fyfe even though he was clearly injured early.

He still drew the tag and Hill chopped them up. If they
The risk was that Fyfe could have severely injured his ankle by playing on. Even Ross on 882 mentioned that they ran the risk of the bones separating which is common with ankle injuries.

Tommy Sheridan was doing okay, wasn't outstanding with only 9 possessions, but they did run the risk of losing Fyfey.

Nat didn't train today but will train on Friday. His ankle is still swollen though which is why they are giving him until Friday to recover.
Sorry didn't hear that, it amazes me that they would risk him.

I don't think he has been at his best all year and has turned the ball over a few times. I love the fact that he is a hard nut though, but Ibbo being fit would be the likely one to stay in the side, even without Matty De Boer.

Geeze, we do need to fix our forward line though. It's a double teamed Pav with Ballas and the odd resting ruck man at the moment.

Good point, I feel Ibbo and Sutcliffe (when firing) could more than cover his role whilst he gets his form back.

And he will get his form back.

You'd never have thought that listening to the commentators, with Bruce carrying on a few times about Fyfe's fitness; and I don't think he was alluding to his ankle injury.

Suttcliffe puts his head over the ball, never shirks a contest and generally makes the right decisions in a particularly difficult position on the ground and a vitally important one within RTB's game plan.

Quite an achievement for a young bloke, and the tangible improvement in his output and development stands in stark contrast to others.
Sutcliffe is also equal 4th in our club for tackles. Impressive for someone of his age and build, he's hungrier for the contest this year.

He's 22 years old, he's not a young kid anymore. He shouldn't be afforded special exemptions because of his age; and it is also an idictment on him that he still has a such a measley physique at his age. The way Gunston tossed him aside last year in the Grand Final is still firmly entrenched in my memory bank. While he has appeared to have improved this year and does present good value at pick 71, his tendency to be a notorious turnover merchant and his lack of physicality make him a huge liability at times. I just think he has little upside and he has a few glaring weaknesses that he needs to address before he can be considered a competent member of the team.

He's not being afforded any exemptions, where did that come from? Sutcliffe earns his spot every week.

People saying that what he is doing is "impressive for his age". People seem to give him extra latitude because of his age and he always seems to be a lock in the 22 even when similar type players like Ibbotson and Clancee are fit and available but are forced to miss out. I struggle to comprehend how he is so entrenched in the line-up when he has such glaring deficiencies.

Perhaps have a look at how he takes the game on and brings the ball directly through the corridor. He is unafraid to take a chance on a high risk, high reward kick and more often than not he pulls it off. He does occasionally misdirect a kick but I wouldn't classify it as a glaring weakness as you have.
He is 1 year older than Sheridan, taken in the same draft so they are both in their 3rd season of AFL.
So we have some people on the board saying that Sheridan is doing great, just needs more time and others saying that Sutcliffe is a poor footballer. I know which one has more runs on the board.
And just for the sake of the argument compare the expectations on both with how Hill was treated in his 3rd year when there were roast threads and suggestions to drop him to the WAFL. Imagine if Sheridan for example played a game half as good as some Hills from that time. People would be hailing him the new Judd.

"Glaring deficiencies"
"Notorious turnover merchant"
Example cited as him being physically weak is losing a mismatch to a key forward, despite our genuine key defenders (Dawson notably) copping the same treatment.

Next you'll be blaming the GF loss on him.

**** I mad

Gunston weighs 84kg, he is a pseudo-key forward. Sutcliffe weighs 85kg in comparison. That incident on Grand Final day was embarrassing and you're clearly just a one-eyed supporter if you can't see a problem with it. Dawson got outbodied, Sutcliffe just got completely ragdolled.

He also did something similar in the North game which indicates that he still hasn't addressed his lack of physicality this year.

Genuinely shit post

Clearly your not watching his footy if you think he lacks physicality. His kicking was a bit dodgy in a few games earlier this year when the entire team was down but on the whole I'd say he is a good kick of the footy.

Clearly you have no understanding of how we are currently attacking out of defense if you think that dropping Suttcliffe for Clancee or Ibbo is a like-for-like replacement. Sutty provides run and attack from the backline. He is not meant to be an enforcer back there.

Luckily, the coaching staff know just more than you do and continue to pick him - clearly they think that he actually has a role to play in the 22 week in and week out and is not being picked because we have nothing left in the barrel. That alone should be testament enough that he is earning his spot if there are quality players in the seconds he is getting picked before.

Haters gonna hate.

I genuinely think Fyfe won't play this weekend. And if he does he probably shouldn't and will have a very average game again. Because of that Sheridan should stay in the side as an outside runner.

Ins for him is hard because midfield-wise you can't just replace a Fyfe. Sylvia might get it based on experience & size, but doesn't deserve it based on his WAFL turnouts. Same as Mora, but he's in a different boat than Sylvia because he hasn't played a game in like... a decade or something and it takes a while to work back into these things. I'd love to see Griff or Kep in the side! Don't know who'd line up in the mid if we did that though. Crozier could certainly come in as a mid but I think Adelaide might end up blowing us away a bit if he does.

It's a good sign that the standard of whipping boy has increased over the years from the likes of Dodd and Gilmore up to the level of Sutcliffe.

Indeed.

Our wannabe rodeo rider seems to have not lasted the required 8 seconds and fallen on his head far too often in the poddy calf ride and mutton busters.

Seeing those two names just put a shiver through my body. I sure he is a great bloke but some of the things Dodd did .....well you looked at some of the players in the team and thought it's just impossible for this team to win a Grand Final ...****ing impossible. We must never go back
