The big concern is Robbo, he gave Bowden a bath last year. I think if Neitz plays Thursfiled will go to Robbo and Bowden will take Neitz. Bowden will have Neitz on the lead but not one on one.

Deledio will be used as a hit up forward, I suppose wallace hopes to destroy them with pace. Personally I would not be suprised if we see the mother of all floods followed by a run of the half back at all costs.

hughes will be in the ruck, he used to be a basketballer like pendlebury. the tigers are taking on a bulldogs look more and more each week.

Why Krusty?

Who is going to stick CHF?

Or maybe I am misreading? Probably need Hughes for 15% of time in ruck, give Polak 1-% and let Patto do the rest, not use Hughes just for ruck tho.

Thursfield on Robbo PLEASE!

It'll be like a episode of perfect match, although I'd like Thursty to gain a bit of muscle I think Thursty could easily do the job.

McLean has been brilliant the last couple since returning from injury - he is Melbourne's most important player with daylight 2nd.

He and Robbo look the two toughest matchups on paper.

I'd be inclined to give both challenges to youngsters (Thursfield/Foley/Jackson) to begin with then play it by ear.

We may well play Lids as a lead up CHF for periods of the game I suspect phoenix.

Either that or young Jack will come in.

Newman's no guarantee from what I've heard after last week's knock.

Our back line is less exposed for talls, but we could also come into some trouble in that department for the game. With Carrol likely to much up on Richo, and a Bizzel or Frawley on Hughes, Ben Holland good play up foward with Neitz. Throw Robertson, Picket and Sylvia into that mix and they have pretty solidly built fowards.
It's been a while since Melbourne played Holland forward. He just doesn't go that well there and his kicking for goal is ordinary. In my mind he's in the team for one reason, that's to play on Richardson when he's near the goal square.

Melbourne have been more commonly playing Paul Johnson forward as a resting ruck. He's big (199cm/106kg), can lead and has been improving a lot lately. Was set for two easy first-quarter goals in the forward line against Collingwood off a lead, messed it up with wayward kicking.

Forward he would be more of a handful for your third tall defender than Holland. With Neitz, Robbo and Bate it might negate any ideas you have of an easy loose tall in defence.

With Johnstone out of the team, jackson will most probably go to mclean, which, with the way jacko has be going in the last few weeks, will be a good matchup for us.

Agreed, Mclean doesn't have blistering pace which will help Jackson control him. The other blokes we will probably tag will be Bruce, who Johnson would take, and Green who Polo/White would take. If Bate or Picket get going we may also have to tag one of them

Personally I hope we don't tag 3-4 midfielders!!

I hope we tag McLean then go man on man everywhere, well as long as we don't flood and play ugly defensive footy I'll be happy I guess.

If Nietz plays we will loose, if we is withdrawn we have a decent chance.

I'd place a bet now that Neitz wont play. Looks like Yze to come in, which I suppose would be a relief for the Tiges given the heigh concerns.
Interestingly, big Benny Holland has been left in the team even though it's not clear who he'd match up on. Possible he might swing forward and try to stretch you defence.
So even without Neitz that is -
Robertson (not actually tall but plays like it!)
Holland (200cm).
Bate (192cm highly versatile, has been playing CHF well)
Paul Johnson (200cm) and Jeff White rotating through.
And Bruce (about 190) might rotate forward for a while as well, if he's been forgiven for kicking FOUR BEHINDS and NO GOALS last week.
But that's about it for talls, with Davey, Green and Sylvia rounding out the forward line.

Of course, then they might bring in Michael Newton as a late change... The only reason he hasn't been playing so far is because engineers have to complete structural tests on the 'G to confirm it can handle that much awesomeness at once.

Anyway, soory to intrude on the tiger board, just thought I'd fill you in on speculations from the other end.

would it not be better option for jackson to take bruce out of the
game..

imo jackson be better off on him ahead of mclean...
