Good neat preview, though I think you've got to have serious doubt about McPharlin playing, and Balla as we know is in doubt, if forced to bet I think they'll do him in. That's some big holes in our team. Jack struggles when McPharlin plays because he can match his lead-up play which is Jack's main weapon. SCOS will simply not cover him in the same way, though we might play Dawson on him and let SCOS go to whoever comes in for Vickery.

Balla out will be massive, just massive out because our Achilles heal, despite recent weeks form, is still turning controlling play up the field into scores.
Re Ballas:

I don't know. I think given the delay until today which has led to considerable discussion in the Vic media and the direct comparison with Buddy's incident, i think he will be let off in the best interest of the AFL and protecting THE BRAND (and the tribunal)

Yeah true, the whole Buddy is kind of good timing in warped kind of way, it is working to give us the moral high ground. We'll see I guess.

Doesn't the whole thing start soon?

EDIT: OK, just read previous postts. We're on then: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-06-10/live-ballantyne-faces-tribunal

Nathan Schmook:
Says he doesn't recall making contact to Jaensch's head.

Nathan Schmook:
Having watched the vision he admits he did make contact to Jaensch's head.
Arrgh!! Why not just stick with your original 'ignorance position'. I don't think it's aboslutely conclusive that he's hit Jaensch's head - I wouldn't have admitted anything of the like unless I was sure in the first place.

As suspected, Gleeson suggesting Balla had a option to go for the ball without the bump, Balla saying that he in effect had no choice but to bump as the ball is in between J and him.

They're going through it 'frame by frame' ... as if that's how slow a footy player thinks in the real heat of battle.

EDIT: Just realised I'm in the wrong thread for these posts. I'm a goose.

Five massive challenges for us this weekend;

1. Injuries - with McPharlin and Johnson out we're a little vulnerable in defence, hopefully we can cover with Silvagni and whomever else selection picks. Still a little proppy in the forward line as well. Surprise call up for Sylvia on the cards?

2. MCG - a ground that holds little love for us; will we spook at the massive oval again?

3. 6-day breaks - our last one for a while, but we haven't won a single game off a 6-day break this year.

4. Richmond - seem to be one of our hoodoo teams (especially at the big ground); however their woeful form this year is an advantage to us this time round.

5. Umpires - we all know the story; we've been raped by them the last few weeks. We were also raped by them against Richmond last year, and were spooked out of defending properly.

Just one of these challenges can undo us; I'm predicting a match similar to Adelaide. We'll start the game a little spooked, miss a few goals and targets, and then take the game on in the third and win by 30 points.

Alright Silent Alarm and other Melbourne folk. We're off the the Gaylord for dinner and then we'll go to Etihad for the rugby test, which will finish around 10pm. Then we'll be after a nearby bar/club. Any nearby recommendations? Also, what is Club Retro on Lonsdale St like?

Thanks for attaching a photo of yourself to the message. I've always wanted to put a face to the usernamessssss.
How did you guess?

Serious, there is a restaurant called Gaylord??

Can you order a bag of dicks? There is a certain barrister acting for the AFLTribunal who I'd like to send some.

Yes the Gaylord's an Indian restaurant. I do believe they offer the burning ring of fire with a twist...

He's kicked 18.2 in 11 games against the Tigers. He also has more goal assists against the Tigers than when he plays anyone else. Might be worth a crack!

Edit: Looking at his stats the teams he plays best against are the Tigers and Lions (17.5 against them)

My uni paid gave us money at the start of semester and we had a great curry, beer, and lassi there. I could it imagine it getting pretty busy but I was a big rap for it. Enjoy.

Never been to that club. Or even heard of it. Too young. I'll be throwing shapes and Damon Albarn doe eyes at Rats then Revs instead.

Despite the double-entendreness of the name, it's a decent place for a curry. Ther's also one in Mumbai if you're in the neighbourhood.

If it's not raining, there's a good place for a drink in the same laneway as Gaylord called Section 8. It's easy enough to recognise... the bar itself is a shipping container.

The place is seriously packed on a Saturday though, and it's full of those hipster bar staff who never acknowledge you and bring down Melbourne's hospitality name. They just stand there. It's uncomfortable.

Hey all, sorry to intrude but i come to seek some advice for my dreamteam :) (we all know you guys are going to give us a royal thumping this week). With Johnson going down, i want to bring in Ibbo as he should slot straight into MJs role loose in defence for you guys. My question is, with Macfarlane injured too, even with Silvagni coming in, do you guys think Ibbo will get a lockdown role? Or be kept loose? thanks.
