i disagree on Parker ... yes his decision making at times is a bit off but the idea is there, what he brings to the team is that unexpectedness.. we have run with the bog boring type player who does the easy thing everytime to death.. i would rather Parker go hard and try to impact the game 100 times over playing a robot who will only run straight lines ... Parkers strength is is flair and his natural ability you dont try and beat that out of him you need to encorrage that and hope it grows into something consistant ... we love players like Dusty and Betts because they dont do the norm but go for the stuff others cant the differance is those two have over 200 games experiance doing that so it comes off more than it doesnt.. the thing to remember Parker has what 12 games experiance i think we gotta let him grow as a player in the seniors.. provided he chases and brings the pressure im not really fussed if he is impacting the game at this stage in his career as he is still learning the craft ... the last thing we want is to grow impatent and turn him into a player afraid to use his x-factor
He has also been getting a few looks at goal every game. Had he kicked straight could be avg 1.5 or 2 goals per game which would be handy

When Carlisle eventually plays, move Battle back to the forward line. His 50metre+ goal on Saturday shows he still has a forwards instincts.
I will be disappointed if he moves forward. Maybe he can for a few games this year but I want him a permanent back. Think he has potential to be a fantastic chb. Brown will be gone soon so he and Carlisle can fill those kp roles.

Not sure why we need to rush Carlisle back in, our defence is not the problem.
Hanners and Paton added to mids and I wouldn’t mind seeing Paton get some midfield time.
I’d consider dropping Parker. Yes he gives a contest but that’s not enough. Currently his decision making is poor and he seems to try and do too much - keep it simple.
We need another forward doesn’t need to be a tall.

I would agree, but every time I think Parker needs a spell he bobs up the next game. He's probably done enough over the year to hold his spot, but I'd consider a bit of a spell in Sandy for a couple of games pretty soon regardless of form. He's slowing down a little (to be expected) and is showing signs of frustration more often. I think it would do him some good to shake some rust off in Sandy, and to keep level. Good to see Kent moving into form though. He was good last game. Looked better playing higher. Cool to see Hanners and Paton get a game. Hanners directing traffic in his infield coach capacity would be great for the team.

Yeah he has been fantastic at CHB but equally that goal on the weekend showed just how classy he is around the goals!
My concern with Battle and Carlisle as our key backs means Carlisle as our full back! Do we think that's his best position? Or even a position
He can excel in? For all of the many good qualities Jake has, is being a tight checking accountable defender one of them?

No he isn’t that but if you give him a job he could probably do it. We just don’t use him like that. Anyway they can swap around during the game. Reckon it gives a really attacking defence.

Id rather see Carlisle go forward personally. Feels like it would be a waste putting him in Brown-like role

Although we’ve been playing tall with Marsh and Joyce in recent weeks. Could be a trial to see how we go with 4 guys down back who play tall. Granted Carlisle doesn’t have the mobility of a Marsh

I wouldn’t be going four. 2 plus Wilkie seems good.

Sinclair has been doing his role , don't get me wrong I wish he would be better but the guy racks up more miles than about anyone in the team attempting to plug holes in the backline to cover the other teams mids which are usually cutting us to bits while playing from a half forward flank most of the time.
Averages 9 contested possessions a game , 5 tackles a game , 5 score involvements , mtrs gain 263m - not too many could do the work he does except for Geary , Phillips or McKenzie running wise.

Not until we get a couple mids that can actually win there match ups would I even think about dropping Sinclair.

Also Armitage is past his best so hopefully he goes out when Hannebery comes back in , he is to slow and hasn't really have the stamina now to play his position as a midfielder - once again being a guy who can only play as a midfielder he has no wehere to hide when he is getting murdered , so Richardson trys to find a place for him and of course the halfback flank is the only place where he can get a possession , however it crushes the team because his rebound is to slow and we have far more effective defenders to do the job.

Another thing we have to drop one of our tall backs - we have Wilkie , Marsh , Brown and Battle and we only need 3 so one has to go and I hate to say it but Brown is the one.
Remember when he was rated as an elite wingman by Champion data?

Sinclair is renowned at St Kilda as being an elite runner. Now, he’s also just known as elite.

Following a breakout campaign last year, Champion Data’s 2018 Prospectus listed the young wingman as one of the AFL’s 55 elite footballers going into this season.

Champion Data notes that three main factors contributed to his rising, now elite status within the league: His inside game, his pressure and his scoreboard impact.

Not only that — he was also St Kilda’s highest rated player in terms of AFL Player Ratings.
Why did we move him from there? So that Newnes can stay in his preferred position? It doesn't make sense, these two should be our cute wingmen

Like the concept of a really attacking defence. Could be significant point of difference for us to most teams!
Especially if we can compliment that with the return of Webster and with White hopefully given more opportunity it would certainly give the
Opposition plenty to think about when they set up!

Right now it feels like Newnes is that guy the just does enough to maintain his standing with the boss and in doing so stops others who may be better suited from getting more responsibility.

He’s been good for us across his career but gees he’s been average the last 18 months.

With the continual salary cap increases, sounds like he is backing himself in to be worth more in two years time rather than locking his value in right now.

Takes him to free agency. It’s common for players to come out of contract when they enter free agency. Actually, it’s pretty much the standard, certainly for the top line players.
