Huge game but What worries me more is when George started the thread. We need a poll. Late night or early morning. Game tonight so I’m voting early morning. Saints by one goal and a half of a behind. Paton to kick 5. Lonie 3 even though not playing. Seriously though stop petracca Oliver and Gawn and they have nothing. Marshall record on Gawn is actually good. I will get no love but these games are a one ruck game. Theory is simple. Ryder won’t win hits outs against Gawn. Will still get a lot but none of the real advantage ones. Marshall should be the only ruck. Compete and win around the ground and have a proper forward. As I said no one will agree.

Win this we play finals. How good is that?

Wish Jake was running out. I don't get it. I guess it is what it is.

Hope Max King gets his confidence going this week.

Saints by 34

I wish we could play just one game where we really put a side to the sword and make other clubs look over their shoulders. Just nail a club by 60 points and make a massive statement about our finals intentions. This would be a good week to do it Saints.

We should win, and we need to win. Danger game. Need to come out firing and compete in the midfield and clearances and we’ll win. We have enough firepower up front and we have the defense to halt their attacks.

Woohoo! Bring it on, Saints by 38pts. ...... ok, hopefully they win by 40+ to get Charlie23 across the line.

Ladies & Gentlemen we have a full house.

This is our most important game for years. Anything less than a win would be a massive disappointment.

Win this and we go two games clear (plus a superior percentage) of the other finals contenders. Lose this, we go right back into the pack and probably cost ourselves finals.

Our clear advantage is on the outside. We have better ball users in Hill, JB and Battle on the wings with a lot of speed and run. But they have a clear advantage on the inside with their ball winners. Breaking even on the inside with clearances and contested ball will go a long way to winning this game.

Going Saints by 16 points.
Membrey to put on a show and kick 4.
Hill to play his best game for the club - 26 disposals and a goal.

Carlisle has had 8, weitering has had 22. Heard on SEN the other day when comparing players on Tim and Gary

You will be ****ing with Pluggers head. He rates those two as great football analysts but he disagrees on their opinion based on stats.

You realise Weitering is averaging similar possessions this year than the AA full back did last year despite 20% less game time?

Just goes to show that comparing stats for key defenders is about as relevant as where they get their hair cut.

Weitering has really come on this year and looks more like what they thought they were getting but I don't think he looks that amazing from what I've seen. He's been talked up as AA from early on. If he wasn't at Carlton he probably wouldn't be getting as much love. It's not outrageous that he does get an AA nom, but he's not exactly Alex Rance yet.

The argument was never that he was as good as Alex Rance though.

Pebbles refuses to believe he's having a good year because he doesn't get a lot of kicks and handballs.

I'm not sure the fact he plays for Carlton means anything, I think he's just having a very good year.

And still way less than Carlisle.

Anyway - lets not let the media influence our thinking, especially when they are talking about one of their darlings, anyone with half an idea about football knows that the current AA CHB by a country mile is Jeremy McGovern
Carlisle must be better than them too then...

I think the key defender spots are wide open. There are probably about 6 fighting for 3 spots.

Weitering is definitely one. I think May has had a cracking year too. McGovern hot and cold this year, but his best is better than anyone's.

This match is now the most important match of our season. This is a genuine 8 point match (even more so to Melbourne)

I think this match shows us a lot about the incongruity of this season. A finals-like match out bush with a small crowd. Neither team at home or in their comfort zone. A crowd which is mostly there just to enjoy the footy, rather than partisan footy fans fanatically barracking for their team (although there will be a few).

Huge stakes. Saturday night timeslot. Big stage TV. Finals beckoning for the victor. Emotional either way but the loser will be under significant scrutiny.

Harris Andrews is the best Key Defender by a mile. Animal.

Have a thumping hangover after attending a 50th last night (in Tas where we have less restrictions). On to my third coffee, will , be following that up with drinking a lot of water in the hope that my head starts to feel less like it is not three times the size it should be thumping to get bigger.

Hope for the Saints to assist in making me feel better, we have not quite clicked in any games (think the win against Port Adelaide was our best and hoping for a repeat of that)

Drink beer. Best hangover cure
