Hippy should of gone forward when we were behind, what’s the point keeping him back when we were three goals behind.I thought the decision to move Hipwood to the backline was far too reactionary and a poor one.
It didn't stop Hogan or Cadman and robbed us of a target i/s 50.
I can see why we did it but at least see how we're going before messing up our structure.
So many times we didn’t give those moments respectWhat’s with the insistence on corralling instead of tackling? We just stand there and give them all the time in the world to make a decision when it’s a one on one?
2 big agrees from me here.Hippy should of gone forward when we were behind, what’s the point keeping him back when we were three goals behind.

If you can pressure the kicker before he kicks it.
Um , do it please.
A no brainer.

It won’t happen during the season, but if Charlie continues his form up forward in the second half of the year, I wonder whether they might trial him in a different spot over the summer. If we’ve got him on the list for another 3 years, but isn’t able to contribute as a small forward any longer than surely we’d have to try something with him.Incidentally is the Charlie contract extension our worst call on the list in a long time? Scary to think how bad he will be by 2028 at this rate. 3 more seasons AFTER this.
Yep very hard to go back2back, only great sides can do it. IIRC the last 4 Premiers have missed finals the following season. The short off seasons are really a strong mitigating factor IMO and we have had 2 on the trot.Happy to be called an over-reactor / bedwetter / chicken-little - pick your adjective!
Said before hawks game we could miss finals and i think that’s back as a genuine chance.
We will be nowhere near a flag this year because:
- we are conceding big scores, that’s 5 now of 90 plus, and now no Payne
- we have no intimidation at home, either losing or falling in, 4-3 at home
- we are close to full strength for 2025
- we pick and choose. when to cover. When to run to give an option. When to properly tackle. We were able to flick the switch ON early in the season. Now we flick the switch OFF
- our form-line is horrid. 2 wins from our last 6 games. Leads given up of 20/24/17/22 points in that time. Last quarters becoming a liability
- our midfield is a guess as to whether it turns up game to game or quarter to quarter
- small forwards in a massive hole
I think the dam wall will break vs Geelong.
Having said all that i think we can contend again in 2026. 2024 was an all time flag and also came after 6 years of contending. No way will we try to miss finals but if we do or don’t finish top 6 (re draw) would be a massive bonus imo
Incidentally is the Charlie contract extension our worst call on the list in a long time? Scary to think how bad he will be by 2028 at this rate. 3 more seasons AFTER this.

He can coast in the VFL thenJust a personal opinion based off the “vibe” but I think Charlie would chuck the shits if he’s dropped and possibly just coasts for the rest of the season. To me He at least comes across like that sort of character.
1- 6 x 3mm calcification at the quadriceps tendon insertion.
2- Patella tendon contains multiple large echogenic foci with posterior shadowing and peripheral hyperaemia measuring 18 x 3mm.
3- Left patella tendon measures 6.5mm AP compared to contralateral side measuring 4.6mm with hyperaemia consistent with tendinopathy.
4- Soft tissue oedema over the patellar region.
5- Prepatellar bursitis.
6- Proximal MCL intrasubstance tear measuring 9 x 1 x 3mm with increased vascularity.
7- Echogenic focus in the proximal MCL measuring 3mm
8- Bony irregularity at the lateral patellar retinaculum.
Conclusion was - Calcification, Bursitis, joint effusion, Proximal MCL tear.
Everyone saying drop Kai and Charlie. I do agree both out of form.
Although we lost the same way we loose a lot of games
1) Teams just walk straight out of the centre bounce with little pressure
2) Teams handball and run from HB through the centre with little pressure.
Our defence is built on zoning, flooding and slow the other team down.
If teams go fast we just open up. I never understand why more teams do not just out run us every week.
Yes the goal kicking sucks when GWS could not miss anything.
Although we do not man up we zone which is why our tackle count is low.
You also see time and time again players do not go hard for a tackle we sort of carroll them
We need a point of difference or growth this season. So far we have played with same model as our premiership year and Daniher for Day swap but our direct competition have taken some strides.Maybe I had too many beers at the pub, but I thought the decision to move hipwood down back was not a good one.
I feel we should have figured out matchups with the available backmen, not continue to sacrifice our forward structure
If the forwards can win the footy then we won't have to worry about defending ball movement

Geelong- Bailey Smith
Collingwood - Dan Houston albeit not hitting form yet, Ned long looks impressive
Adelaide- Peatling, Cumming, Alex Neale Bullen
Hawthorn - Barass, Battle
Levi Ashcroft is making a good impact for us but he's a first year player after all.
We have enough talent in house at the moment but may be positional changes might help us unlock a new left field idea. Hipwood in defense is something new and I hope we keep trying it over this year.
Kiddy
LOL! That's is my go to method and it usually works with little niggles, i.e. move it or lose it.Harden up buttercup.
In my day, we'd just run that off.
This loss sucks more than the others I think. Last week we should've won but oh well. This week we screwed ourselves, lost Payne, lost 2nd spot and now have Geelong down there.
We'll still play finals, can still win it, but we aren't travelling as well as it looked a fortnight ago.

Agreed, I was curious when I saw Dunkley pop up in forward line.Underrated problem with moving him back - we had to put Dunks forward when Fort was taking a breather and Day was rucking, so Tom Green had no one to worry about at stoppages and killed us.

I tried it with this one but alas it was not the right strategy this time, even at our age we can still learn hey BB.
