Ginbey’s preferred position is being that tall in defence who can rebound and have grunt off the lines. That’s where he played footy for East Perth in his draft year and excelled in it. Since going back to defence last year when Jarrod Schofield came in to coach he’s played much better footy. Would be odd to send him back through the midfield after all the work we’ve put into him down back over the off season tbh
Yeah I see your guys points of view don't fix what isn't broken it's working for him in defense. Maybe it's just me wanting more decent young midfielders to take over from kelly and yeo. I still look at ginbey's athletic profile and go damn he'd be good if he could make it as midfielder. I feel like simmo just forced him to tag whoever the big bodied midfielder was and he wasn't the best tagger. He was never given a chance to actually hunt the ball himself then when scofield took over he put him in defense because he knew he would perform well down there.

Anyways probably if mini with all his chops and changes for positions in our team is reluctant to put ginbey in the midfield maybe he really isn't suitable for the position.

Dewar looks his best when he's getting involved in passages of play between the arcs, I'm not sure what the rationale would be for sticking him in a forward pocket
I just see all that pace on the lead or back leading running into goal he has which is something we really need in our forward line the only guy that offers that right now is ryan who is now spending lots of time in the midfield. We recruit bo and baker in the same year and mini ends up playing dewar at half back.

if they were better that those in the 22 they would have replaced them, The reality is that no listed player has dominated in the WAFL so they fall way short of being effective in the AFL. McCarthey is the exception of a small sample.
I actually agree, especially when compared to Gross and Hall experiments before - that would be the obvious reason the coach is reticent to use them.
But with the attempts at using Allan, and Hall getting supposedly good Wafl stats, albeit innective apparently; I'd just like to see them played sooner than later, so we can put that argument to bed, one way or another?

But the coach of course has his own plans, which we're largely not privy to..
McCarthy while looking a cut above, can still look scrappy, given all the good things we liked about him were from condensed highlight reels..

There are successes, as well as the obvious Brock is going well and is an interesting prospect in defence and on the wing given his mobility. I honestly thought Harry was dead and buried last year - credit to him now. Some others will take time, Champion for example. We seem to be developing Shanahan as a footballer of quality not rushing him in.

But it's all about the midfield - we need the cream in there. Mostly we have drafted skim milk.

Apparently Mini has to teach them how to win, that must be the next stage in the evolution.
Presumably he won't be able to do that before the Carlton game?

Yeah i see it differently i see an inbetweener a guy that isn't big enough to play midfield and a guy that isn't nimble enough to play small forward. I'm happy to be proven wrong though. I agree with you on hewett and ginbey to some degree but i think ginbey has potential to go through the midfield but because our key position back stocks are so bad he isn't being tried in that position because he has to pinch hit as a 3rd tall in defence.
They moved Shanahan back when they got Jilliams and Arxher back into the wafl side and they also had livo/barnett. Jobe did a decent job and he’s been played there ever since.

They’ve given Archer more than half a season in the AFL side and while showing promise his out put has dropped and he hasn’t kicked a goal in 2 months. Think now in the second half of the year they give Jobe look in the side as a 2nd/3rd tall. Archer can go back into the two’s and work on being a key back

Really hoping we push Carlton to late in the 4th qtr this time.

Weve all talked up our chances the last few times we played the blues saying we should be winning or they're shot, too many injuries but their midfield runs rings around us and some rando kicks half a bag.

We have improved a lot since gather round and fingers crossed we can put in a much better showing.

Still think Blues win but with straight kicking we can be competitive late.

I think the issue is still fundamentally the same. They are a brutish midfield with genuine clearance power that we just can't stop right now.

Even a guy like Cerra is much bigger than Hewett, Brockman, Ryan and Kelly. Add in a dominant ruckman and getting enough field position from clearance is going to be a huge challenge for us.

I thought Essendon actually did quite well last night, and they have a smallish midfield as well.

The fundamental issue is that DeKoning will massacre Flynn, Xerri was the top ranked player last week, DeKoning will tear Flynn a new one.

OUT: A.Reid, Hutch, B.Allan

IN: Hall, McCarthy & either B.Williams or Shanahan

Let Bo play a full game and about time Clay is rewarded for his body of work. Wouldn't hurt for Archer to go back and start having an impact on some games either. After his missed set shot the only time i saw him all game was in the ruck.

I don't think West Coast know what they are doing when they play a Forward as a Defender and a Defender as a Forward and waste their talent

Nice that McQualter has put his hand up and admitted that he has been an absolute melon with the sub.

That’s great but how does it get to that stage in the first place?

How has someone not said to him “we’re looking a bit flat out there, how about we get Bo on for a tall?”

They need to put all suggestions in writing to Jeppy before he approves and it's passed on.

I hope we get some games into kids in the 2nd half of the year. See what we've got.

Got absolutely nothing to lose now and not expected to win anything.

Give HJ games, kid gets involved. He was getting belted in the WAFL but was always in there and getting to good spots.

Get Hall in.

Play Allan, Grego, Shanahan, Malakai etc

Give them all minimum 4 straight games in a row to see how they go

Oh Yeo will fix everything 🙄

Mate you're dreaming.

Kelly won't even be dropped this week. Nothing has changed from last year, Simpson may as well have stayed as coach.

Kelly was made an example of for 1 WAFL game...and made no changes to his performances. Has come back and played meh...okay and then last week's shit show.

Noah long made way for an underdone Cripps who should've played WAFL to prove his fitness.

Our number 1 pick Bo Allen can't even get a look in.

None of those players will play this year.

Wake up this is simmo mk2
