Autopsy Round 14, 2025: Hawks sink the Crows

The basis for the back 7 now has to start with Barrass, Battle, Weddle, Dimma, Impey, Amon.

Hardwick and Weddle have been immense in the last 2 weeks, I don't know how you shift them.

Interesting times for Sicily, Scrimshaw and CJ.
Scrimshaw should be in the back and Weddle to wing or CHF.
Sicily too to CHF and CJ is the ideal sub.

Dunstall only has one comment:

Teams have to make the most of their opportunities or it will come back to bite them.

He goes on about this EVERY SINGLE GAME
He is terrible always in commenting Hawks. You can add Hodge to that too and he is worse. I only like Dermie among Ex-Hawks when calling our games.

Here's the video of the final seconds. Ginnivan fumbles the ball on the ground or "knocks it away" before the umpire pays the free kick, so how the **** could it have been 50?

Video

Maybe this needs to be in the head****ed thread instead?

That was the quickest hand back ever! WTF? Hawthorn Haters heads are trully broken.

Correct. Had Seamus been in against Collingwood he negates Bobby Hill and allows Jars to be more offensive. A few positional changes down back and all of a sudden teams can't score and it's teams that score freely as well.
Great point!

Keeping the right balance down back is going to be crucial. I don't envy Sam and the coaching/selection panel the task at hand in trying to fit Scrim and Sic into the side and will be keeping a keen eye out for training reports, pics and vids from the brilliant Pinoy Hawk that might give us a clue in the week(s) that those two are are due to return.

We've also had a much better balance in our F50 in the past two weeks, with Ramsden offering another tall option.

What?? That's absolutely hilarious you could view that as a 50m penalty. Head****ed isn't the right word for it totally delusional is closer.

Not quite sure what Thilthorpe is getting at. He's on the wing and the siren has gone so therefore unless he's taking a shot the play is dead. Even if by chance the ump did award a 50 he still would have had to kick it 50 plus to win the game more than likely. Just ridiculous sooking from Riley.

Interesting to hear that. I have been thinking Scrimshaw could make a really dangerous wing, especially trying to get out backline mix right. Would be a great outlet mark, and would be so hard for your average wing to match up against.
Not sure he has the tank to be a great wingman?

Yeah was a crap game last night in terms of skills displayed with the low scores ……. but it still had you on the edge of your seat until the final siren. Watching the Cats v Bombers plenty of goals kicked but boring as dog shiite!

Not really to do with this game but with Sic I just think he’s been getting a lot of his touches too deep in defence. Would love the coaching staff to some how manufacture a way so he gets more touches from CHB to launch counter attacks over team defences.

Dunstall has had more nice things to say about a side down 8 goals than us who won

It’s quite sad
Not specifically at you BH because I’ve seen this everywhere- but why do you guys care so much about what commentators say about us during games? Honestly I don’t even notice what they’re saying most of the time, and am certainly not keeping score on who says the nicest stuff about us.

The only people worth paying attention to aren’t commentating our games that’s for sure.

It’s more Dunstall

Seems to go out of his way to be critical of us at the moment

Listening to the Kangas Freo game.

Pav and Brad Johnson not scared to question the umpiring.

Pavs insights are good.

Much better than the trash last night.

Hobart does not get the same conditions as Launceston.

The hysteria over the weather from a lot of Melbourne commentators was piss funny when the AFL said it was 5.8 degrees at the start of the game, meanwhile the temp in Melbourne at the same time was 6 degrees.

Someone think of the children.
Yes, they (mainland media) have no idea, Melbourne weather is no better than ours.

Then there is the election, they think it's over the stadium/team, but both major parties support it

Was reluctant to watch the replay, but I suppose spending the day at Chadstone wasn't enough punishment.

Found myself enjoying it when I took it for what it was: a defensive masterclass.
Oppo supporters will laugh as Adelaide kicked 400 points, but there's a reason for that. We applied a huge amount of pressure when they had the ball and forced them to kick from low percentage spots.

A few things I didn't pick up on live:

Butler is a machine. He moved effortlessly from contest to contest. The complete opposite to what our engine was like towards the end of the Clarkson era. Boy does he tackle ****ing hard.

I was at the ground when he broke his leg, and vividly remember the look on his brothers face when he realised what happened. Poor kid was lying on the ground for 30 minutes after. I'm so proud he's leaving no stone unturned in fulfilling the talent he absolutely has.

Seamus Mitchell blanketed whichever small he rolled onto. Really underrated game.

Newcombe was scragged the entire night. Adelaide applied a good old-fashioned tag. We need Day and an in-form Worpel back.

CMac, who I'm likely a little hard on (only because I love him), was awesome. His game reminded me of Gulden in his first two years. Cleanest and most decisive player on the ground. His connection is really important and it felt like every time he touched it we had a shot at goal.

Hardwick is pound for pound the best defender in the league. If he’s anywhere near the ball in our D50, I get the same feeling I used to when Burgoyne had it in traffic or Lake was setting up under a high ball.

Barass, Battle, Weddle and Hardwick is the best defensive structure we've had this year. They have everything. If they play another 10 games together, they'll be the best in the league come finals.

Team selection have a genuine issue coming up. Sicily and Scrimshaw are too talented to leave out, but swapping them in for someone more mobile will impact our dynamism. Going to be so interesting to see what they do.

I think Schrim may have stained a Hammy at Box Hill.
