Liddy is a great story, but he looked every bit a State League player out there who was struggling to keep up with the speed of the game. Not sure how he’s keeping Hugh & Lorenz out.

and right on cue there we go, dudes been in our club 3 minutes and already getting bashed as a state leaguer. Absolutely no shit to be stating the bleeding obvious, its his first AFL game.

Give him a chance, more than a week. New teammates new level new flow new grounds new tactics new gameplans at AFL level. If you actually watched his disposals some of them were quick and instinctive. Sure he piss blasted one away into the forward line maybe his third touch.

I absolutely cant wait for Lorenz to be a full game inclusion just to get piss blasted to mars like every other 20th-28th picked player on our list. Imagine if we listened to people like you and had Sinn rort in the SANFL when he has put together quite a solid season

Titus O'Reilly review:

I mean, the most depressing part of all this is the predictability. For years, the Dees have been a team with a glaring weakness; they butcher forward opportunities like it’s the point of the game. Again and again and again the Dees missed shots and bombed the ball into the forward line despite it never working.

This is not the first time I’ve written a sentence like that. But lessons seem never to be learned.

The only change up this week seemed to be the Dees hitting Esava Ratugolea like he was their key forward, and to be fair, he would be a better key forward than they have.

Port couldn’t believe their luck. The real difference was that where the Dees midfield kicked with the efficiency of a local council, Port’s were like an F1 car. They did exciting things like kicking to the advantage of an opponent and honouring a lead. It was novel stuff.

DBJ still shockingly underrated the fact he went back and slotted a team settling goal after we missed a few gettable shots..

Was truly a massive sign of maturity good player and deserves more respect

Couldn't agree more. Haven't seen his stats but I reckon he'd have to one of our most reliable set shots for goals (although one could argue the bar isn't particularly high).
Can look a bit lackadaisical at times but has the happy knack of being in the right spot to sneak goals off the ground or setting up others.

We were reminiscing about the Escort Cup game at Thebby in about 1983 when the cheer squad brought candles.
I can recall trying to watch that game on tv and the Thebby oval lighting was so bad any play in the pockets at either end was just about impossible to see, it was so bad that by comparison night games at the Parade looked like they were being played at a world class stadium.

I didn't clearly see what happened with that, but the guy sitting next to me in a Dees cap said Pickett ran into Zak and came off second best. And was kind of perplexed about why they had a free kick.

I think Kozzy tripped over his contract and hit his head.

Are you saying he was a better option than Jackson & Lorenz? Don’t kid yourself, Liddy isn’t ready yet.

Finally saw Butters and Pickett 'clash' and as described, they bumped chests and Pickett flopped as if he'd been hit with a shovel.

And amazingly the umpires saw a free kick there.

Perhaps it is just me as it has yet to be mentioned by our other esteemed BF posters. In the second half of the game, to me I noted some petulance about Rioli’s game and attitude. Just seemed to be a bit half hearted out there. Or, perhaps it was just me!
I can’t work it out with Rioli, I think he’s a confidence player and things like the mistake he made giving Lever the 50 seem to set him back more than others. He loves a big crowd and a night game.

We have took advantage of the Dees poor goal kicking in the 3rd quarter when they were attacking well, but we - well Georgi and JHF in particular had his issues in front of goal. They kid 7 of our 9 pts, and 1 of those points was rushed.

I50 us 48 v them 54
M50 us 16 v them 10, we had 11 at half time (kicked 7.3) which is our game average this year.

Scores from marks I50 - 10.5 and 1 didn't make the distance, Georgiades kicked 4.4 from his 8 marks and one mark he also got a 50m penalty and that put him on the goal line.

Frees I50 3 - for 3.0 Georgiades got all 3 frees.
Free mid field + 50m penalty, SPP on 2nd quarter siren, kicks a goal from 40m out.

Melbourne's 10 x M50 they scored 3.6 and 1 shot didn't make the distance.
