Round 14, 2026
Here we go. The first of two proper bye-round headaches.
Carlton, Collingwood, Fremantle and Hawthorn all sit this one out, which means a lot of coaches are about to cop some serious premo pain. If your side still looks half-decent this week, congratulations, you are either very well planned or lying to yourself.
The upgrade targets this week are pretty clear. We should be looking hard at players who have already had their bye, namely Port Adelaide, North Melbourne, GWS, Gold Coast, Richmond and Adelaide. This is the week to start fixing structure, bringing in fallen or post-bye premos, and trying not to burn trades just to scrape to 18.
On the rookie front, there are a few cheapies around:
HHK, MID/DEF, $99k, 72
Podhajska, FWD, $99k, 52, but on the bye this week
Lake, MID/FWD, $99k, 45
HHK looks the pick of them given the score and handy DPP, while Podhajska might be one to keep in mind after the bye rather than forcing it now.
Round 14 is all about survival. Get to 18 if you can, upgrade to players who have already had the week off, and try not to rage trade half your team by Saturday night.
