ESSENDON BOMBERS

Could quite well consider ourselves completely robbed of at least a draw through disgraceful umpiring once again.
Didn't deserve it, granted, as we were smashed in the inside 50s and were a long way off the pace, but Grimes diving like prime Matthew Mitcham and Vlastuin throwing his head back like he'd been uppercut by Holyfield turned the tide.
Doesn't matter if the panel found them not guilty, everyone outside of Richmond knows that they're divers. And pissweak.
Anyway, we were shite and deserved to lose.
10 straight losses to this mob, going back to 2014. Christ.
Mozzie was outstanding, and Draper is going to be an absolute jet for many years to come.
If only we had a key forward that could take huge marks and roost goals....
Oh wait

**** Hawthorne.

**** Hawthorne.

The Dons have made three changes to the side that just fell short against Richmond last week, with Aaron Francis making way with a hamstring strain he suffered in the first quarter. Joining him on the sidelines is Tom Bellchambers, who is looking increasingly likely to have played his last game with the Bombers, having being superseded by freakshow beast Sam Draper... Who is also on the sidelines against the Hawkes, as he is being rested for his date with Nic Naitanui next week. This leaves the Dons looking relatively short through the ruck, with Shaun McKernan still being out on form. As such, the Dons have seen fit to recall ex-Giant and Blue, Andrew Phillips. Phillips was excellent against Brodie Grundy in his first game for the club, but tailed off quickly after that. It will be interesting to see how he mans up on the duo of McEvoy and Ceglar. Joining him in the side is veteran defender Cale Hooker, who has overcome a long calf complaint. Perhaps the biggest in that we've seen all year, however, is Joe Daniher. The key forward requested a trade away from the club last year but it wasn't granted; and he was kept at the club. This is Joey's first game since Round 9, 2019, which is where his OP flared up again. After numerous surgeries and hellacious rehab, it now looks as though Joe is back in tip top shape, and will be super keen to get back out there and tear games apart.

Having moved out to Daylesford (way away from the CBD), and being kept out of the media spotlight until this week, it looks as though Joe may actually switch his decision around, and stick with the Bombers. We all hope he does, because we all love him.

.... **** Hawthorne.

This could very well be our last chance for a win this year when you consider our run home, so lets hope we get the chocolates.

Welcome back Joey, you big beautiful bastard.

Essendon by 19, Joe to kick 2.

Cheers VS. Up you Bombers. Pumped to see JD back in it. Like most I'm at work (till 9pm) so I'll be avoiding scores like the 'rona until I watch the replay. Have fun gang, see you in the post match thread!

I am surprisingly positive about this game. Don't know if the weather has me in a good mood or what the reason is, but I'm thinking a W is on the cards.

Regarding the weather, the biggest issue the players will have is sun in their eyes for the first half, cracking day of 18 odd degrees here, no cloud and barely any wind

Can't concentrate. Excited to see Joey play. Might have to knock off early. Have a few 11% stouts in the fridge and fair to say they are more than calling my name, they are delivering a ******* 3-tenors aria. "You are not doing any work anyyyywayyy, so drink uuuussss you fllllllloooog"! Ok fine. Damn singing stout cans.
I guess all that's left to say is * hawthorne, naturally, and let's grab a win.
Good luck Joe 👍

It feels weird coming into the game believing we're actually a chance to win.
I just hope Daniher isn't injured. So good to see him out there again.
