Ryan Harwood, 18 quality disposals all hit targets. Keep him in the team!!

Won't be going anywhere. On a side note you can see why he was such a highly touted clearance player as a junior. He's been great in defense but I would still like to see him become a midfielder. His contested work is fantastic. Can spot an opening, composed and with his body he can now barrage through to clear the congestion.

Just oozes composure under pressure.

What did people make of Rich's game? I thought he was quite effective when he had the ball in had, but he couldn't get enough of it.

Absolutely horrible early when Stanley was wearing him like a glove but as the game opened up towards the latter stages of the third quarter he was a lot more prominent and his usual damaging self.

Said throughout the game how good he looked and he didn't slacken off at any stage.

IMO, he is very impressive around the stoppages and for the most part his disposal is very good and rarely turns the ball over.

I much prefer him in the team than out.

Goose was another that impressed and for mine, he should play whenever available. Great reader of the play and besides one errant kick, his long kicking is a feature.

Do you need to say anything about Mayes. Composed, assured and nothing but all class and no wonder why he is selected in front of Karnezis, Polec, Crisp etc.

Under the circumstances, twas a game that we could have got run over, but rather than cave, we dug in and pulled clear and that was really encouraging.

Even more encouraging was the eveness of the performance, everyone made a contribution no passengers and voting was hard. The Merrett goal in the middle of the last quarter was pure class and emphasised how far the group has come, a bit of calmness at the back then clear and decisive ball movement and we turned defence into a classic move goal.

Thus team is moving together positively. Bravo to the coach.

For the first three quarters I was fuming at us and the umpires.

In the end we were pretty good - but it still annoys me that we didn't put in the effort required for at least 1/3 of the game. Although you have to give some credit to Gold Coast - they gave a pretty good contest (their young ruckmen Nicholls is particularly impressive even though he was beaten by Leuy).

As everyone has acknowledged it was one of the most disgraceful umpiring performances you will ever see. Coming off the back of the Geelong and Hawks games it is like there are two sets of rules out there - one for us and one for our opponents. It was glaringly obvious tonight.

We dominated a lot of the stats - disposals, tackles, inside 50's, and the clearances, yet we got creamed in the free kick count. Those holding the ball play on decisions were some of the worst all year.

A lot of our players ended up having reasonable games, it will be very hard to do the votes.

The holding the ball / dropping the ball decisions and non decisions are a joke. Just like last week against the Hawks when the umps were all over us when it came to those decisions and yet we replicate practically an identical tackle and it is simply play on. Same again occurred tonight. As you said, one set of rules for us and one for the opposition.

Surely it would have to be apparent to the maggots when they review the game. I couldn't buy into the theory that there is some sort of directive from the umpires coaches, but bloody hell, it would have to stand out like dogs balls when the game is reviewed.

That was great.

I reckon we got exactly what we wanted out of that game.

No huge comebacks. No massive standout performances. No real dramas, if you look at it in hindsight. The only point after half time where the Suns really looked a chance was that string of goals in the third quarter, and even then it was a matter of forcing it forward and throwing it on the boot, rather than a sustained period of dominance.

After the Essendon game, that was our best four quarter performance by some distance.

Haven't checked who got the medal, but I hope it was Adcock. Was a genuinely steadying influence down back, along with Maguire, and I think it was the consistent efforts of our leaders like Adcock that contributed to a pretty consistent performance.

Still plenty of issues to work on, but there always will be.

Lets hope we can carry back up with another solid performance against the Roos next week and make consistent effort a habit, rather than an aberration.

The only knock I had on Leuey's game was that a lot of his hit outs seemed to favour the Suns' on-ballers.

Couldn't fault his around the ground work and his second and third efforts immediately following the ruck contest.

Harwood is the ideal workhorse in the midfield. When he really matures, hes going to have a solid body thats just going to run through the likes of Jaeger, like a knife through butter.

Say what? I've always liked Harwood as a player but that's ridiculous.

Well done on the win. Brisbane always seem to take these games more seriously than the Suns. Decent crowd as well. Thanks to us ;)

Hopefully next year we will be fitter and stronger and maybe have a few KPPs available to make more of a game of it...oh and Gaz as well.

You have a beauty in Sam Mayes. That's the future of your midfield right there.
