With regards to The umpiring and not just yesterday. I think as a whole in the last month or so it seems that the number of frees per game has risen quite a lot and tbh I love it. To me it seems that there much faster to call incorrect disposal and holding the ball and it’s making games better. So Im not complaining that they’re calling more frees especially when there there

looked like he went through that pack in a glass tunnel

After this week against Port, we will have played all 11 of the current top 11 teams including Melbourne twice. Have still to play - Carlton, Bulldogs, Essendon.

Games where I’d really love us to crack in hard & take the game on are Richmond, GWS, Hawthorn & Norf.

We could win another 4-5 games.... but do we want to? I kinda like the idea of Rankine, Walsh or King. Probably miss out of them all regardless as GC will get band 1 compo for Lynch leaving

I want to win them all no matter where that puts us on the ladder. Realistically we will win between 1 and 3

Always WIN
We got Clarke & Coffield at 7 & 8
If we did win 4 or 5 on the way in it would be huge for the Boys going into next year

I just want Rankine.... :(

Great summary from BrutThrough up there ^^^

What I also appreciated, watching the game live and snippets of replay, is the amount of work I can only imagine Paddy put into his mattress over the bye. That thing is looking SOLID. Young barrel of a man should be proud, tear to my eye stuff.

FOR THE SAINTS:

Josh ‘The Steal” Battle looks the goods! Powerful, aggressive. intelligent and naturally confident.

Gresham is brilliant in the one on one contested situations, a mixture of Baldock, Milne and Wels Eicke*. A heady brew.

When Jack Billings plays with the sort of desperation he showed this week he looks so much better.

Jack Steven is the king of cliff-hanger finishes.

FOR THE DEMONS:

I’m actually glad we didn’t end up with Petracca on our list as he seems more style and than substance.

However, Oliver is one hell of a player (too bad he copies the soccer players and likes to take a dive!).

And we could really do with a clearance player like Viney…(the last clearance of the game not withstanding).

*My grandfather described Eicke to me years ago as a freakish talent for the Saints -short, agile and explosive, not unlike Jade.

I was doing some family history and found a site with lists of gold rush immigrants who crossed from South Australia into the goldfields. Wels Eickes family seems to have come at that time. In the list most were Germans or Cornish and a few distinctive names came up on a pretty short list including a Sierakowski clan and from other teams Funcke, Weidermann, Schache and even Pelchen. Lots of familiar English footy names but unlikely to be ancestors of the actual players by the same names. German immigrants have done pretty well in AFL. with Loewe and Kosi both claiming German heritage and Gherig sound pretty Germanic too.

PLO is the devil's game dude. The variance is way too much for me, your pot equity is miles thinner than NL holdem if that's your usual game, need about double the bankroll to play the same stakes and even the situation you describe is like 65/35 at best I would say (which is fine, provided you've BRed correctly).
No Limit Holdem is "the" game. No Limit Holdem cash tables are a license to print money , if you know what you're doing. Money management and self control within that , is just so important. My mates are ordinary players , but are typical of players that are in Casinos all around Australia. They are there to gamble , they don't care about Pot Odds , they don't work on their games , they are undisciplined and are just there for fun. They leave without their money.

that gresh video needed to be a bit longer at both ends; I would have liked to see if that was just a lucky accident that the ball fell into Gresh's path as he streamed through, or if the ruckman had actually placed it for him.

But it is a beautiful moment regardless, thank you for capturing it. There have been a fair few beautiful little moments like that lately, amongst the pain. It's a shame there's no Saints fan masochistic enough to search through all the horrible losses and string together all the highlights.
Here’s what I first thought when I saw this clip of Gresh.
There is a now retired All Black by the name of Ma’a Nonu.
Played as inside centre, sometimes wing.
I was fortunate to see a game at McLean Park in Napier between the Highlanders and the Hurricanes in winter 2015.
Brilliant game of rugby, 12 tries scored.
Nonu scores the last two.
The second last he literally carries the Highlander pack across the try line on his back.
Impressive, but we’re talking no neck Neanderthals.
So: Meh.
However, the last.
Oh, the last.
The Highlanders have the ball at halfway and they flick the ball out high and to the left of the scrum.
But Hurricanes have a tall guy placed just there who manages to jump and block the pass, and catch it.
As he comes back to earth he brings the ball to his waist, and in one action he passes the ball to his right.
I reckon Nonu has run from near the Hurricanes try line and collects this pass at full speed and full stride.
Then runs to complete the try.
Everyone else on the park are motionless, standing still watching him run and score.
He obviously yelled to the tall bugger to pass it to him.
I. Have. Gone. Wow.
Everyone else in the stadium have gone off their nuts.
His anticipation of play was unbelievable.
Even I could see and appreciate this.
Prior to that play if I ever thought of Nonu it was only ever in the context of Robin Williams and Mork.
After that play, I can never think of him other than a genius.

Irrespective of how the play developed, and it’s outcome, Gresh’s ability to anticipate then capitalise on a centre square bounce is an equivalent moment.

That was truly sublime.

It will be on his highlight reel forever.
