Look at some of those Fitzroy sides in the 1980’s and players who fought hard to get senior games. I’ll give you one sensational case in point, Graeme Hinchen, a gutsy defender who was one of my favourite players because he busted a gut to play senior football.
I just don’t know that Witherden has those fighting qualities. I hope I’m wrong, but he has to improve his running ability and stop being so lackadaisical with his kicking. Watching him move was like watching paint dry against St.Kilda.
