The Box Hill Hawks play the curtain raiser to the AFL match against the Giants at Giants Stadium on Sunday morning. This game has the potential to shape the eight for both teams, with the Giants looking to consolidate their position in the top eight, while the Hawks missed out on an opportunity to put pressure on the top four by losing to Footscray last weekend. The Giants have lost four of their last five games and have been stewing over their most recent loss (by 56 points to the Suns) over a bye last weekend. The Giants' only win in the last five games came against North Melbourne, by 40 points at Giants Stadium, but prior to that, they were beaten by 53 points by Werribee at Giants Stadium back in May.

Footscray put the score on the board early against the Hawks last weekend, leading by 30 points at quarter time, then by 49 points at half time. The Hawks stemmed the bleeding after half-time, but could only manage six goals for the game. They will be keen to bounce back.

Teams to come.

Geeze, Daniel Howe just let a slow rolling ball go through his legs. got the free but if he'd picked it up he'd have been away.

Gee I feel for O’Hara seems bereft of confidence at the level. Totally understandable though
I feel for Jeka. has not wanted to actually do anything. Is he still asleep? His opponent picks up the ball and jeka gives up before the opponent had even taken a step. He was willing to approach until he successfully picked up. And he just stopped.

What has happened to this Box Hill team. They are awful. Don’t even look interested.

Yup, no chasing. 3 steps behind opponents. Kick it straight back to them every time we get it. Smashed in clearance and around the ball and backs getting dominated by GWS forwards. Horrible
