Yeah elements of the media went SUPER EARLY counting us out.
Here we are after Rd.15 last year before we went on to win the PREMIERSHIP.

… and here we are after Rd.15 this year.

Now I understand that many in the media are not that bright, but I’d say we are better placed this year and more likely at this stage to win another flag than we were this time last year.

Headlines should be reading something like … BRISBANE LOOM AS MAJOR PREMIERSHIP THREAT!
At this point, i'm cheering for us to finish 3rd, 4th or 7th. We are a much better team away from home, and in retrospect, we probably wouldn't have won the flag last year if we played all of our finals at the Gabba.

Crazy talk ☝️

2025 hopefully goes like this:
Win Qualifying Final (GABBA)
Win Preliminary Final (GABBA)
Win Premiership 🏆 (MCG)

It’s the shortest and safest route.

Apart from the Zorko 50 which was completely unfathomable and the dropping the ball straight into a Cameron goal I didn't notice the umps too much last night which is a nice change from their recent efforts.

One of the worst umpired game I've witnessed was my opinion. Did they pay a holding the ball all night ?

Interesting food for thought re our best side.

Harris actually played right on his man and was better for it imo. Would we be better with Starce almost as a third KD? Worked for the hawks last year. We looked so dynamic down back. But then it was slippery. Last week it was all about marks in d50.

Fort seems to clearly be no. 1 ruck now. He has great hands for a big man. He is a one touch player.

Harris always kills slow unathletic key forwards. I wouldn’t take last night as representative of him being better as a lockdown player.

Just a good matchup.

Watched the 7 telecast last night. I was actually surprised at the number of calls that went our way. Seriously expected to get reemed by the umps in the second half, but for one or two calls, thought we had the better of the calls.

Win Qualifying Final (GABBA) v Magpies

Magpies out in straight sets, Dogs humiliated by 80 points in Prelim, Crows smashed in another zero Victorian team GF.:D

Lots of our play last night was exciting to watch just like some of our best last year.
You have to be fairly brave to regularly go inside on that narrow ground.
McCluggage was great at this last night and a few others also.
An off kick and you just about concede a goal to the Cats.

It really was a great team effort.
Two of our KPF did not kick a goal but rarely got out marked. The other kicked 5.1 replicating the same score as last week.
Charlie had 2 hard running shots on goal, both out on the full so did not affect his accuracy %, but played well in other arears. A much better effort.
Rayner the bull and Bailey the elusive that did not get caught this week.
Ten marks to Andrews and Berry and 10 tackles to Dunkley
Tackles inside 50 a huge improvement Lions 12 Cats 7

Lions got to 110 marks (Cats 81) but last night it was a quicker ball movement from that point. Way quicker than the last few games.

The heat map is very telling on how the Lions restricted the Cats to the boundary while our possessions was concentrated in the middle and both wings. I can't get this on my PC anymore so unable to put it up here.

Amazing how much better we are when we are not greedy going forward and take out the bomb kicks. Exactly how we should play post daniher era
And people say Fages doesn’t read Bigfooty 😝
Ok we have a bye but don’t rest on your lorrels fellow coaches
Our work is not finished yet
Now what can we work on 🧐
Great game and I think I am guilty of posting a thousand likes for all the posts
If I missed you I probably still loved it 😻

I couldn’t understand why Geelong fans were talking up Neale so much pregame. I thought he must have become a world beater since I last watched the footy.

The Geelong faithful were screaming the whole game, afterwards i presumed we must have had 20 more free kicks than the cats the way they were carrying on all night but no free kicks all square.

That’s hilarious, they were gifted 3 goals and virtually kissed on the **** by those yellow ****s!

I personally think he is better with a match-up atm

He is trying to do too much when floating.

Suspect he will get plenty of jobs with Payne out so i guess we’ll see

Was a constant complaint from the crowd around me. Kept saying they couldn't buy a free or goal. Didn't appreciate when someone pointed out they had more frees and half their goals had come from frees.

Really reminded me how strong our bias can be when watching our own team play

Yes and no…I know I’m one-eyed whenever I watch the Lions but occasionally you hear commentators unanimously expressing disbelief at calls…when it happens across multiple platforms and commentary teams and all in relation to calls benefitting the other team, then you know you’re genuinely getting a rough call!
