It's been the opposite to what i thought this year.

I thought we would start poorly with a bad pre-season and begin 3-3, with tough games v Swans, Cats, Pies and dogs. Instead we went 5-1

I then thought we were a good chance of going 4-0. We lost to the dees and drew with north for 2-1-1.

Then the tough part with the next 5 games. But i figured we would be up and running by now. I was hoping for 3-2 at worst, and maybe 4-1. 2-3 will be disappointing and in particular going 0-3 at the end.

Funnily enough if we win we will have gone 3-2 through a tough period and including a very close loss v crows and be right in it.

I can't see it but it would really put us back in the frame

So yeah i've probably only said this 46 times but huge game.

Okay i'll do some work now and leave you people alone
Yer a win tonight would be one of our best H&A wins in the Fagan era.

I've made it down to Geelong as well for my first time at Kardinia. Blue skies but definitely chilly. Not expecting a win at all so feeling fairly relaxed about this one.

Just hope they dont run us off our feet too much and we can show some level of whole ground pressure. Bye next up means no need to hold back on anything

This isn't what most people seem to think but to me there are times to have a ping and we're not very good at working out when that is.

Many times in recent matches we've had good players streaming through the middle of the ground with the goalmouth in front of them and the mental training of doing the 'team' thing clicks in and they look for a short option , maybe someone who's closely marked or in the pocket , don't execute it particularly well because we're at full pace and the ball gets swept away.

The short option's fine if it's there but if it goes to someone like Charlie he still has to kick it.
Fair enough Marty I reckon the players just have to keep it simple sometimes and if you have a player leading or is open in a better position then give it, it's usually the first option . I do get the Umpires have made this hard with the 15m interpretation rule this year.
Just get's the hairs on the back of my neck up when we go long to a contest and lose it and there was a shorter free easier option. Say 15.5meters away simples .

Well we don't have a Joe Daniher anymore who could sink it from 60m. Those are absolute team lifters.

If we get our patterns right and someone can make enough space go the short option absolutely.

But I'd much rather go long to a contest than short to a contest. The turnovers on the short ones kill you , as we've found recently.

Hopefully not as bad as the Collingwood game but probably a 5 or 6 goal loss I think

Remember the Adelaide game.
We walked in thinking of a loss and almost rolled them on home deck if not for 0.8 in Q4.
I think we can roll Geelong. Boys will be up for it.

Not looking forward to the commentators w@&king off to Geelong and danger tonight

Dizzy to put the muzzle on him.
Hopefully his quietest game yet, let alone the 350th.
I'm sure he'll throw an elbow around if he completely gets mauled.

It was a very impressive 3 quarters. Probably our best performance.

I think Geelong is on another level however. A bit more star power and harder to beat at home

I take full responsibility for last week. 'Nuff said.

I'm going to the Pineapple tonight....I cannot recall the last time I was in Brisbane to watch footy, never mind at a pub

With all the shit in our world, a few light beers at the pub will be nice.

Watching a Lions win would be nicer.

Seeing that Geelong toe-rag Jeremy Cameron get "held goal-less" would be even better.

RAWR

Did anyone watch Oscar in the 2s? How was he moving?

If he is fit i would have played him v the cats - i thought he was KILLING Stanley in the PF before he got injured.

Jeremy Cameron has been in scintillating form, gone 6, 5, 0, 6 goals last 4 weeks, we need Froggy to do his usual job on him. Not all that confident he can do it, Froggy been a little down on form(like a few mates) as compared to 2024.

Zero goals was in a win v the Suns, no idea who manned him up in that game.

Dominated the hitouts against smaller opposition, not sure there were many hitouts to advantage. Some big punches forward. Didn’t need to jump to win hitouts. Took at least one mark in the goal square against some opposition. I thought the best part of his game was his physicality around the contest. Bulldozed his way through the pack taking the ball forward. Something that has been missing in the firsts.

I kinda feel we need that in the 1s at the moment

When our mids are getting smacked Oscar has traditionally just gone the 20m hitout and it seems to break the cycle

See how Forty goes tonight i guess. Stanley is no dud but not overly tall, would like to see Fort manage some hit outs to advantage as that is his advantage over Oscar
