Co-captain, one year Wilkie and Windy.
The next year Wilkie and NAS ( hopefully) for as long as Wilkie can play, every year introduce a younger player into it. Create many leaders because that’s what we are sorely lacking.

A slightly different take on the GT model.
Wilkie, Windy, Stocker, Phillipou is the leadership group for me.

One game? He kicked 28 goals in his first 10 games of the year and 2 in the 4 games since.

His goals-per-game have dropped from 2.8, to 0.5 for the last month.

That’s less than 20% of his earlier goal output.

Effective disposals in his last 4 games: 3, 5, 6, 3.

It’s been quite a staggering dropoff.
Let’s get a reasonable midfield group before we start potting our small forwards

oh my god!
there was pushing off the ball

Cat Wow GIF
Different era but King was one of the dirtiest players going around.

Must have convenient memory loss .

Could not agree more we lack midfielder pace away from stoppage and Owens won’t solve that. He will help contested but with MCrae Steele inside plus Clark you kind feel the issue is once it’s outside and how we move it away
It’s why when NAS does go in there it’s a different look …he can run the lines and use it I would like to see Hall given a run as that outside stoppage player also …smart user not slow
True to say even Box or Garcia don’t really help there …Box is Steele replacement for mine Garcia who knows
Pies like Dogs flicked out wide a few times last night and just ran on to it knowing someone’s going to be there while our guys got sucked into the contest a bit
IF we had someone with Horne Francis pack hitting pace that would make a huge difference….sigh ..
Isn't that where Wilson could become most valuable?

If you're talking about midfielders with pace, that's Zac Jones. No one wants to hear it, but that's why when he comes back into our side, he always has an impact. We still need him, or at least the best version of him.

Just saw a lovely stat that we lead the league in conceding a goal within two mins of kicking one ourselves. We’ve had that happen 24 times this year. Extraordinary.
Maybe if our senior ruckman didn't just blindly belt it as far forward as he can from centre bounce and create an instant turnover, we'd retain the ball and stop it becoming an opposition attack so frequently. Let's hope the one that replaces him can do this.

Agree re Zac Jones having an impact but I think that just proves we need a pacy young mid not named Zac jones to come in for the longer term. We have been very 1 paced for some time ..go back to days when Lyon tried to recruit Lovett to inject some pace it’s an area that could really complement our inside mids and partly why IF we lost NAS and magically secured Butters that wouldn’t be the end of the world as Butters has that run plus mongrel

Maybe if we had a midfield he wouldn't have to

Has to be the centre square setup. Just has to be.

Plus it’s the most demoralizing way to give up a goal so of course we have to do it regularly.

Nope. Can’t have that. We’ve trotted out the same shit midfield group all year. Didn’t seem to affect him early.

He’s dropped off significantly in the last month of footy. Wasn’t missing shots early in the year either. He’s getting way less opportunities and is kicking like Owens when gets them.

In three years time once Philipou, Travaglia, Hugo Garcia, Boxshall and Wilson are playing full time on ball (and another 2-3 first round picks drafted) does anyone think Windhager is anywhere remotely in the 23?

Can't find any role without being a tagger. Perhaps he becomes a winger? I can't see him playing on ball if he isn't a tagger. he's not a fwd/back and can't kick for s***t...

Well maybe Ross could overrule him and at least try him there. He’s strong and can force his way through. At the moment he’s just not a reliable enough kicker to play forward.
But currently we have no one else who can take his position forward

Put King down there and we may have the flexibility to be able to run him more through the guts

Remember he is still only 21yo

Plenty ..... of ..... time

Small defender maybe?

All knowing guru collingwood coach Mahat McRae can gagf. Whiny little grub. Really hope the pies don't win the whole thing.

Tagging is part of footy ffs. Get over it.

Pretty sure Nathan Murphy was using similar (if not more forceful) tactics on Caminiti. Difference is Caminiti didn't wilt.

Maybe Owens goalkicking is a result of him being absolutely polaxed and smashed into the turf whenever he goes for a mark. David king should highlight that right
Or maybe he has a natural high foot arch and the dorsum of his foot (top) is humped .... shaped more like the Great Pyramid of Giza ..... or it could be that when his follows thru his foot's natural angle is skewed at point of contact when it meets the ball which may not be so easy to fix

NAS and Sincs need to be rotating through there more frequently to give us a different look.

If we somehow manage to retain NAS, the nucleus for a dynamic midfield for years to come is there. Pou, NAS, Wilson, Owens could be an elite midfield IMO. I doubt we we will ever get to see it.

TBH I think that’s just shuffling deck chairs on the titanic. Whether one or the other is tagging there’s still going to be no damage with ball in hand, we need different names in there.
I think the point is to let Windy become a mid in his own right. Not just a tagger.

I get the time thing. I think he’s going to be great. But how much better if he can deliver in all those goal chances he gets. Why wait? Work on it now. I mean I’m really hoping they are - it’s an obvious need to fix.
