Few with short memories of Steele’s career in RWB.

88 Brownlow total votes over his career - #10 for all Sainters.

Let’s not use current form (age does catch up with us all), to define a career & what he has provided to us over his time at StK.
Well shit, I guess that guarantees him the captaincy until he's 60 years old then.

This should brighten everyone’s day.

I’ve been absolutely stoked with Hammer’s season. I honestly reckon he’s surpassed Doug already - less brain fades, better overheard, more pace, closing speed, and more often than not plays within his limits which will only get better.
As a general rule too very few defenders come in straight away and play well. Most sbud it up for a few years. Callum Wilkie being an obvious exception.

On Hill, I thought he was OK in patches, but I'm not batting for him any more. Part of me would like to see Travaglia get a good late run in that role.

Webster isn't getting dropped on current form. Webster being dropped would be a real selection integrity issue. If his current form persists he's not getting dropped.

Hill was setting up a lot of play on the weekend. His deficiencies still exist but when the team is playing well around him he absolutely plays his best.

Webster is a genuine issue, his form is still very good and he doesnt look like slowing down but he is now our oldest player. Is he holding someone like Hastie out, or are they different enough roles?

Oddly enough, our oldest looking player in Barrett is also our youngest.

@WoodenSpoonData breaks down the improvement we saw for most of Saturday night, but one glaring issue - a pure momentum killer - continues to haunt us.

Excellent. It's been bleedin' obvious for a few years that our midfield defensive strategies are poor, and nothing has changed. Lyon has abandoned his old defensive mindset do our detriment, though we saw a glimpse of it in our win against Freo, but since then, once the ball moves from the centre to the opposition half, we are all behind the ball and chasing, and give away easy goals or scoring setups. Time for Lyon to get off his bum and fix this structural issue

I agree re Jimmy. Has done nothing to deserve being dropped.

Pretty shit effort from a bloke who had the whole club and supporter base close ranks around him at the end of 2023…

It’s a joke - he’s obviously taking a swipe at the preferential treatment the Pies get re interstate travel.
I think it’s quite funny actually.
We all know it’s true.

I took it as a crack at the level of support we gave as a crowd.

I doubt I’m alone.

I thought it was a really poor choice of words.

It was a crack at us and also a tongue in cheek about their lack of travel.

No hate from me but don’t think he really needed to comment on crowd numbers when he was with us.

Seriously just thought he was comparing crowd numbers, and the lack of travel, and in neither case is he wrong.

Anyway, I have a soft spot for Timmy, so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Didn’t take it at all like the backhanders we received from Dunstan, Bruce and Battle tbh.

That whole post is a joke

He didn't say any of that
You can’t possibly know that unless you’re him.

In any event, I’m over it now. I genuinely hope he didn’t say it, but frankly, I don’t really care anymore if he did.

It's a tad hypocritical to demand some sort of loyalty post-departure while also trying to poach every blue chip player under the sun.

It's more that there is an unwritten law that you always stay classy towards your old club while showing your love of the new one for the same time.
