I appreciate that this thread was made in jest but I don't think it can really be understated how much for a difference a proper break made for us tonight against the Roos. We were energetic and determined to score, despite being horrifically inaccurate in front of goal. It was a 8 day break for us between the Carlton and North Melbourne games and here's the remaining breaks we have:

21 August - Carlton @ Darwin
8 day break
30 August - North Melbourne @ Metricon
9 day break
9 September - Brisbane @ Gabba
5 day break
15 September - Collingwood @ Gabba
5-6 day break
20-21 September - Hawthorn @ TBA

Crucially, Brisbane will be coming off a 5 day break after their Collingwood fixture this coming Friday. It gives us a distinct advantage going into the QClash and it would be a sweet victory if we found a way to take down the Lions as well as keep our slim finals hopes alive.

If we knock off Brisbane, this year becomes a resounding success imo

Dare to dream, right? We're definitely a better team after an extended break between games and that should be on display again in the upcoming QClash. By the time the Lions game rolls around, we will have played just one game in 17 days.

If you want to go all the way with the dreaming then we want:
  • Melbourne to lose one (or both) of their next two games against Sydney and Fremantle
  • GWS to lose their next game to Carlton
  • Bulldogs to lose their next game to West Coast
  • Essendon to lose one (or both) of their next two games against West Coast and Geelong
Some of those results sound really likely and others seem optimistic. However, if all those results managed to fall our way and we found a way to beat Brisbane then we would be just two points outside the top 8 with two games to go!

We are honestly incredibly similar to Brisbane in 2018, they ended with 5 wins, lots of close losses and a percentage of 90%.
We currently have 5 wins with 3 games to go, a few close loses, a percentage of 101%
Similar list profile, we need a big fish this off season. We need another player to just push us over the edge so we come out next year and win 10-12 games

Love the belief in here that we can beat brisbane, hope the boys are buzzing about the opportunity too. Where is Nick Robertson now with those soft comments? That will definitely kick us into gear

This Q-Clash doesnt deserve to be shelved as a midweek game..

Why not a big weekend match? or even better, Friday or Saturday night on FTA?!

Cant lose this week boys

Freo gets up and we lose a spot on the ladder. Playing Richmond though and fetching $5.50 for the win so not likely

Will the Hawthorn game be at Carrara?
No chance at Metricon- it isn't our home game...

It will almost certainly be at the Adelaide Oval.. If not then the Gabba or a 1% chance to be at Cazaly's

West Coast tried to 'buy' a home game off North Melbourne and the AFL knocked that back so there is zero chance it will be at Metricon.

Speaking of games at Metricon this year, we had an interesting record at home this year:

R1 v Port Adelaide loss by 47 points
R2 v West Coast win by 44 points
R3 v Adelaide win by 53 points
R4 v Fremantle win by 13 points
R8 v Bulldogs loss by 5 points
R9 v GWS loss by 26 points
R10 v St Kilda loss by 4 points
R11 v Essendon 73-73 draw
R14 v North Melbourne win by 63 points

4 wins. 4 losses. 1 draw.

Two of our four losses were by less than a goal against teams that will likely play finals this year.

the Port game we were never in it but all other games we were in the game most of the time (even that GWS game when we played shocking- we were still only a couple of goals in it at 3QT)

We are a massive chance against the Lions.
They'll be coming off a 5 day break (us 9), and then there's only 4 days to their next game after us.
If we can stick with them to half time I reckon we can run them off their feet.
Will they rest players too?
Here's hoping their game against Collingwood this week is full on.

Adelaide killing them
Love some of hawthorns fans excuses. Apparently its unfair Hawks are on a 5 day break compared to Adelaide's 9 day break Hahaha ... Adelaide haven't won in over a year
