Must have padded the stats late, watched and thought he had zero influence. Genuinely surprised those were his numbers.

From memory I'm pretty sure he got most of his touches late.

He got the five tackles before halftime, thought he probably had about 10 touches to then.
Edit: reading through the WAFL thread looks like he had 12 touches to 3/4 time so yes he did get a lot late. Was being tagged by Greg Clark until Clark went off injured at some point.

I remember watching the game and thinking he hadn't had a great deal of touches to 3 quarter time - that might've been low teens by then. By comparison he had a productive last term, it definitely stuck out compared to the rest of his game.
For the record I agree with you, I think he should've been in the WAFL for another week at least but I also don't think he had a terribly poor game either.

Yeah I don't disagree, but at this point I'd rather have lack of selection integrity in favour of the youth than lack of selection integrity in favour of a 31yr old phoning it in.
Kellys entire season has been a bit of a joke. There's still this missplaced notion that we need him, that he provides all this leadership and we can't go into X game without him...
And then you watch the game and he's either invisible or one of the worst performing players on the ground. No leadership and no reason for him to hold his spot in the senior side, and yet he does again and again.
Club just needs to move on already and cop the hit (or likely positive) for playing a younger player in his place. Unlikely given his contract.
Mini at the start of the year did mention that it’s not about kick, Marks or handballs. Tk obviously brings something to this side we all don’t see.

I just think McQualter is too scared after the Carlton game. It's a real pity.
Losing Kellys 10 ineffective touches off the HFF really isn't a big deal.
Hope Hall/Allan aren't the sub. Both deserve more game time after last week's solid outing. Real opportunity here to make one of the 3 under performers the sub.

You seriously can’t be making excuses for TK. Bloke was seriously underwhelming in that wafl game for a player of his quality. He lacked intensity and effort just like he has done all year. He’s still a league above that level and that stat line is the bare minimum you expect. Should have ended up with a much better game in reality. He’s just lucky this season we are in desperate need of seniors cause this years he’s going as just as good as Gaff/Sheed in years ago past.
The Pies have named 4 "tall" forwards in Membrey, McStay, Mihocek and West.
Does that mean Maric plays in defence like how hes named on the team sheet as our 4th tall defender?
We have Allan and McCarthy named on the bench, put Hunt on the wing instead of Hall and we have a 5 man bench of Allan, Brockman, Hall, BW and McCarthy
McCarthy is our 7th defender
Hall the mid rotation
Brockman a fwd/mid rotation
BW our usual last fwd, with Hewett/Ryan named in the fwd line who will play mid for some amount of time.
Leaves Allan as the odd one out to be sub.
We need to put either of Allan or McCarthy as the winger to replace Hunt, in order to relegate Hunt to sub

FWIW I remember the game and the WAFL thread shit posting that came with it. Before the OG Santa Maria I think.
Kelly was shit for 3 quarters. Superstar Greg Clark nullified him with ease. Kelly kicked an excellent goal in congestion in our forward 50 but unless you're blind, you could see he was soundly beaten and overall very disappointing. 4th quarter he collected some JunktimeJake stats to crawl to 20D that didn't really impact the game.
He's just lucky the AFL kids got smoked by Carlton that week in the CBD's and McQualter wet his pants, or he'd still be languishing in the WAFL IMO.
Also worth pointing out this was before McQualter gave up on him as a mid and put him onto the HFF In the AFL side as well, which makes him even more expendable IMO.

Yes I remember coming out of that game keen to see TK get a block of time in the WAFL to build some form because it was obvious that game wasn't good enough to get a recall from....
lets face it. in 12-18 months time if kelly has not lifted his on field presence and he is still a regular in the team...then we will still be bottom 2.

Given he'll be 32-33 and potentially on the final year of his contract at that point, I should like to think so.
The thought of Kelly on our list next year in the form that he's in, along with his body language is proper grim. Imagine how it'll look in 2027.

Interpretation:
"His attitude was good": Tim knew he was playing pissy football and expected to be dropped.
"Luca had his best game with tk helping"
Tk was tagged instead of Luca and Luca got more of the ball but not enough to be considered for selection.

Yeah he likes to stand on the outside of the contests and get the easy ball given to him by his teammates. Always has done.
Mate if you're defending Kelly in our side you seriously need to re-evaluate your expectations of this team because he isn't doing anything worthy of selection every week.
Imo the only reason he is being selected is mini has been told he has to be in the team every week due to contract obligations. It was clear to me he was added back in the team against minis wishes and his comments above reflect that imo.

Everybody knows Kelly should not be in the AFL team based on current form - everybody except those who choose the team it would seem.
